The Ministry for Energy and Green Transition of Ghana, led by Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, is preparing to host the highly anticipated Africa Oil Week (AOW) 2025.

Scheduled to take place from 15th to 18th September 2025 at the prestigious Kempinski Hotel in Accra, this event will serve as Africa’s premier gathering for stakeholders in the oil and gas sector, with a particular focus on upstream development and financing.

Hon. John Jinapor expressed his commitment to ensuring that Africa maximises its vast natural resources for socio-economic transformation and energy security.

“Africa must take charge of its energy future.

“We are at a pivotal moment where the global energy landscape is shifting rapidly, and we must work together to secure investment, accelerate production, and leverage technology to decarbonise our upstream sector.”

Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, Minister for Energy and Green Transition of Ghana

Ghana’s position as the host nation underscores its commitment to advancing the continent’s energy aspirations.

In his statement, Hon. Jinapor reinforced the importance of unity in navigating the evolving energy dynamics. Ghana, with its robust energy policy framework and resources, is poised to take a leadership role in Africa’s transition towards a sustainable and diversified energy future.

Africa Oil Week, known as the largest energy event in Africa, is set to bring together a distinguished array of participants, including African Ministers, National Oil Companies (NOCs), regulators, private sector leaders, and international investors.

With the goal of unlocking investment and driving strategic partnerships, AOW 2025 aims to be a catalyst for shaping the future of Africa’s upstream energy sector.

This event marks a crucial moment for the continent, where collaboration and resource mobilisation will take centre stage to maximise Africa’s potential in the global energy landscape.

AOW 2025 will provide a high-level platform for governments to showcase their upstream opportunities, while also offering private sector participants an opportunity to explore new investment prospects across the continent’s energy sector.

With increasing interest in Africa as a destination for energy investment, the event is expected to draw major international players and stakeholders eager to contribute to Africa’s energy revolution.

Paul Sinclair, the CEO of AOW, voiced his enthusiasm about the upcoming event, noting the record level of participation from both governments and the private sector.

“We are thrilled by the overwhelming support from the Ghanaian government in hosting Ministers, NOCs, and global investors at AOW 2025.

“Africa is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for global energy investment, and 2025 is shaping up to be a pivotal moment for the continent’s upstream sector.”

AOW 2025 will feature a dedicated National Showcase for Ghana, where the newly elected government will outline its vision for positioning the country as one of the most competitive upstream destinations.

Through progressive regulations, incentives, and policies, Ghana aims to create a favourable environment for international operators and investors. With an emphasis on strengthening upstream infrastructure and creating new licensing opportunities, Ghana is set to become a significant player in the global energy market.

This event also provides an exclusive opportunity for international operators to explore emerging oil and gas opportunities in Ghana’s resource-rich basins.

Notably, AOW 2025 will feature special presentations on the geology of the Keta and Voltarian basins, which are considered to hold significant untapped potential for oil and gas exploration.

These basins are expected to become focal points of attention for global investors, as they could unlock new frontiers for production and investment in Ghana’s upstream sector.

“We expect to see exciting developments from international oil and gas companies in these basins. “It is a privilege to have exclusive presentations on their potential at AOW 2025.”

Paul Sinclair, the CEO of AOW

Beyond exploring new exploration opportunities, AOW 2025 will be a platform for Ghana to unveil ambitious production targets.

Hon. Edward Bawa, CEO of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), highlighted the strategic importance of Ghana hosting the 7th African Petroleum Organisation National Oil Companies (APO NOC) CEO Meeting at AOW 2025.

He emphasized the pivotal role that the event would play in enhancing regional leadership in Africa’s energy transition.

“GNPC will leave no stone unturned to ensure a warm welcome to all NOC CEOs attending the 7th APO NOC CEO Meeting.

“AOW 2025 will be the premier platform where deals are struck between the global private sector, Pan-African regulators, and National Oil Companies.”

Under the leadership of Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, the Ministry for Energy and Green Transition is set to showcase Ghana’s immense potential while positioning the country as a leading player in the global energy conversation.

With strong government support, extensive private sector engagement, and a strategic focus on unlocking Africa’s energy future, AOW 2025 is expected to set the stage for transformative partnerships and groundbreaking energy deals.

As the countdown to September 15th, 2025 begins, all eyes will be on Accra as it hosts the most significant oil and gas event on the African continent.
