Nana Aba Anamoah Expresses Her Dissatisfaction And Frustration

Nana Aba Anamoah

In a recent discussion, media personality Nana Aba Anamoah lashed out at former deputy minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mark Okraku-Mantey, for performing abysmally in his political position.

His comment triggered reactions from the panelists, including the broadcaster, who chastised the former Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture.

She accused him of failing to address crucial issues in the entertainment industry during his tenure in office.

Following Nana Aba Anamoah’s response, she faced criticism from people asking whether she had a personal problem with the former Deputy Minister.

The broadcaster retorted she has a personal issue with him because the former minister’s source of income and living was from her taxes as a citizen.

“Yes, I have a personal problem with him because if my taxes are used to pay your salary, it’s personal. If my taxes are used to fuel your tank, it’s personal.”

Asked whether she’s friends with Mark Okraku-Mantey, she said, “he’s an acquaintance,” stating that she would confidently tell him the same thing she said on the show.

Explaining why she ranted on the former Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Nana Aba Anamoah reiterated that his comment was unnecessary because he is in no position to decide for a media station on how to produce their show, thus deserving the response she gave.

“I felt his comments were unnecessary. He’s been in the media before and doesn’t decide for any channel how they should approach their show. That wasn’t the main thrust; it was my disappointment in him because I thought that for someone who was coming from this industry, I expected better from him for the creatives. I expected an improvement to move them from A to C.”

Nana Aba Anamoah

Unfortunately, she said that Mark Okraku-Mantey failed to deliver, as the fortunes of most creatives continue to dwindle and worsen day by day. “So, my rant was born out of my disappointment in him,” she added.

Despite the backlash she has faced following her response, she remains firm in her opinion. The broadcaster maintains her claim that Mark Okraku-Mantey has disappointed the creative arts industry.

The media personality, while addressing the issue of being classified as rude, explained that she prefers to be honest and tackle matters as they are, adding that it is something she will never apologize for.

She asserted that she is the opposite of what people think about her.

“I hear that all the time, and I don’t apologize for it. I don’t render any apologies for it. I don’t know why anybody will say I’m rude because I just like to tell things as they are. In a measured way, most of the time I’m polite.

“But my politeness is sometimes hidden in a very subtle and sarcastic way. I hear people say that I’m rude. I’m not rude; I’m just a very confident person.”

Nana Aba Anamoah

She explained that most ladies face confidence challenges due to the fear of being tagged as rude, which is one of the major reasons behind the initiation of her program, “Women of Valour”.

According to her, men tend to be more confident in job interviews than women, which she thinks should be addressed.

“The problem is that women are sometimes afraid to say what they can do because they think people will say they’re too knowing and want people to see that they can do this or that, but there’s nothing wrong with it because that’s what you can do. This is what I’m capable of doing, and this is what I’m bringing to the table when you employ me. So, there’s a confidence issue with a lot of our ladies.”

Nana Aba Anamoah

Nana Aba Anamoah further revealed that this makes it difficult for women to negotiate their salaries when given a job opportunity, “as they feel they struggled to get it and don’t want to risk losing the chance, thereby accepting low offers.”

But for her, she doesn’t mind being rude when necessary because some questions deserve rude responses. She noted that she is not bothered by people who think she is impolite.
