In a major step towards sustainable energy solutions, Neosun Energy has announced plans to install a high-performance solar power system at Jetpark in Johannesburg.

The project, developed in partnership with Palisades Business Park, is set to significantly reduce reliance on grid electricity while lowering operational energy costs for the facility.

Jeanine Jackson, Head of Sales for Neosun Energy South Africa, emphasized the strategic importance of the project.

“We are thrilled to be part of this initiative, particularly as our client will benefit from the 12B tax incentive.

“Our priority is to provide an efficient, cost-saving solution that addresses their energy needs while promoting sustainability.”

The upcoming solar installation will feature a state-of-the-art, grid-tied photovoltaic (PV) system. The system comprises 1,380 Longi 580W N-type solar panels, with a total installed capacity of 800 kWp.

This initiative is designed to enhance energy efficiency by generating approximately 1.347 GWh of clean electricity annually. This output will account for nearly 55% of Jetpark’s total electricity consumption, translating into substantial cost savings and increased energy security.

Beyond the financial benefits, the project aligns with South Africa’s broader sustainability goals by curbing carbon emissions.

The solar installation is projected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 905 tons per year—equivalent to eliminating 2,095 barrels of oil from use or preventing the combustion of over one million pounds of coal.

With South Africa facing ongoing energy challenges, including frequent load shedding and increasing electricity costs, the adoption of solar power has become imperative for businesses seeking stability.

By integrating solar energy into its operations, Jetpark stands to gain long-term energy independence and resilience against fluctuating utility prices.

Moreover, the environmental benefits of the project contribute to global climate change mitigation efforts.

The transition from conventional power sources to renewable energy directly supports the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, preserving air quality and fostering a healthier ecosystem.

Neosun Energy has been expanding its footprint across South Africa, with offices in Cape Town, Johannesburg, and a newly established branch in Durban.

The company’s strategic growth underscores its commitment to providing innovative and cost-effective solar solutions tailored to meet the unique energy demands of South African businesses. “Our expansion into the South African market provides a major opportunity for businesses to tackle rising energy costs and power shortages,” stated Ilya Likhov, CEO of Neosun Energy.

“We are committed to delivering advanced solar solutions that enhance efficiency, lower costs, and drive sustainable development.

“Real change happens when businesses embrace forward-thinking energy strategies, and we are here to ensure a smooth transition.”

South Africa’s Section 12B tax incentive has played a critical role in accelerating the adoption of renewable energy among businesses.

This policy allows companies to deduct 100% of the capital cost of renewable energy installations within the first year of operation, significantly improving the return on investment.

By leveraging this incentive, Palisades Business Park will recover a substantial portion of its solar system expenditure, making the transition to clean energy even more financially viable.

The adoption of solar energy in South Africa has been on the rise as businesses seek reliable and cost-effective alternatives to Eskom’s power supply.

The ongoing energy crisis has prompted companies to explore renewable energy solutions that provide greater stability and reduce dependency on the national grid.

Solar power, now regarded as the most affordable form of electricity generation, is increasingly viewed as a key enabler of economic growth.

Companies like Neosun Energy are playing a crucial role in facilitating this transition by offering customized solutions that maximize both financial and environmental benefits.

Neosun Energy’s partnership with Palisades Business Park for the Jetpark solar project marks another milestone in South Africa’s renewable energy journey.

With a commitment to sustainability, cost reduction, and energy independence, the initiative sets a strong example for other businesses to follow. As the nation continues to face energy challenges, the role of solar power in driving economic and environmental transformation remains more critical than ever.
