The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a firm directive to its members, instructing them to refrain from discussing internal party matters that could foster “disaffection and negativism” in the media.

This directive comes in the wake of the party’s electoral defeat, which has left many members disappointed and frustrated.

In a statement signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua-Frimpong, the NPP acknowledged the emotional toll of the loss and urged members to exercise restraint in their public commentary.

“Many of us, as party members, have, on several platforms, expressed our anger, disappointment, and frustration. However, we humbly ask that all party faithful remain calm so that cooler heads may prevail at this time.”

The party’s leadership underscored its constitutional mandate under Article 10(7)(5), which grants its officers the authority to oversee and coordinate party activities.

In line with this responsibility, they stressed the importance of maintaining internal cohesion and discipline, urging all members to refrain from publicly airing grievances that could undermine the party’s unity.

The leadership issued a firm directive, reminding members that any issues or concerns should be addressed through the appropriate internal channels rather than through public forums.

They cautioned that divisive discussions in the media and on other platforms only serve to create unrest, fuel negativity, and breed disaffection within the party.

As such, all party members were instructed to immediately cease engaging in public discourse that could be detrimental to the party’s image and overall stability.

Members Urged To Protect NPP’s Reputation

Additionally, the NPP took the opportunity to remind its members of their obligations under Article 3(5) of the party’s constitution, which mandates all members to actively uphold and safeguard the party’s reputation.

The leadership emphasized that loyalty to the party extends beyond mere membership—it requires a conscious effort to protect its image, promote unity, and refrain from actions that could bring the party into disrepute.

Members were urged to be mindful of their public statements and conduct, ensuring that their words and actions align with the core principles of the party.

The leadership reiterated that any form of public dissent or internal wrangling aired in the media only serves to weaken the party’s standing and provide ammunition to political opponents.

Upholding the party’s reputation, they stressed, was a collective responsibility that all members must take seriously.

“Going forward, the National, Regional, and Constituency Party leadership shall respectively refer any member who violates this directive to the appropriate disciplinary committees of the Party.”

The directive reinforced the NPP’s commitment to presenting a united front as it works to recover from its electoral defeat. “Let us uphold the values of the NPP and work together to rebuild a stronger party for the future.”

Party leadership emphasized the importance of solidarity and internal cohesion, urging members to channel their energy into rebuilding and fortifying the party’s structures rather than engaging in public disputes that could further fragment the party.

By prioritizing internal dialogue and constructive engagement, the NPP seeks to foster a renewed sense of purpose among its members, ensuring that any grievances or concerns are addressed through the appropriate party channels.

The leadership made it clear that unity and discipline would be critical in restoring public confidence and positioning the party for a strong comeback in future political contests.

Through this directive, the NPP is making it clear that internal party matters should be handled through established structures rather than aired in the media, where they risk fueling division and public distrust.

As the party navigates this critical period following its electoral defeat, the effectiveness of this call for unity will become evident in the months ahead.

Whether members will fully comply or whether internal tensions will persist remains to be seen.

The party’s ability to enforce this directive and foster genuine reconciliation will be crucial in determining its long-term stability and prospects for a political comeback.
