Ghanaian singer and 2025 TGMA Artist of the Year winner, King Promise, has opened up about his type of woman and how any lady would win his love and be in a relationship with him.
King Promise was asked to describe his kind of woman and what he typically looks for when choosing a lady. He said he loved a sweet woman in terms of compassion.
He explained that, growing up, he had been drawn more to physical appearances, but now he was more interested in a woman’s energy.
“It goes beyond that. I like someone who can stimulate my mind, we have a connection. It is not just because I like you. If it is just nyash I like, there is somebody who has a bigger nyash than you. If it is just face I like, there is someone who is going to be prettier than you. It does not mean you go to the next person.”

The ‘Terminator’ crooner noted that being in a relationship with someone has more to do with connection rather than being interested in them because of their physical appearance.
When quizzed about marriage, on whether marriage was in the offing, the musician simply replied that it was not in the plans in the foreseeable future.
The question stemmed from speculation arising from a music video he released in May 2024. The tune in question — Favourite Story — featuring rapper Sarkodie and singer OliveTheBoy was based on a traditional wedding setting, hence the chatter.
King Promise’s definition of his kind of woman won the admiration of many of his fans on social media. Many of them tagged him as a very mature man who knew what he wanted in a woman.

King Promise Shares Lessons from TGMA Previous Nominations

The TGMAs Artiste of the Year winner opened up on valuable lessons learnt from his previous nominations at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
King Promise shared lessons he had learnt after losing out on various categories several times in the TGMAs.
“It’s really just one lesson, is to just keep pushing, bro. Like you need to believe in yourself. What people see that you don’t see in yourself, you need to work so hard that you turn non-believers into believers.”
King Promise
He further noted that in previous years, he did not go into the award scheme with high hopes like he did in the 2025 TGMAs.
Asked how he felt when he lost out on all seven nominations he got in his first TGMAs, he said: “It’s really just one word, resilience.”
“For me that day, I was very excited to be there, first of all, I didn’t go there with any high expectations like I did this year. I wasn’t too hard on myself, for me, I thought it was a nice experience.”

He also attributed his success to his dedication and innovative approach.
“I feel like the hard work is quite evident with regards to what I have done with the music from when I landed on the scene, where I always wanted to take this, there wasn’t really a template as to how to do it. So I had to like carve my own path, just dey my own lane with my team working together.”

The ‘Terminator’ hitmaker dispelled the notion that artists fade away after winning the ultimate award. He mentioned that music was his calling and that the award will rather spur him on to do more.
“I mean, the only thing I say to that is even when I didn’t get one, I kept coming back to back, so imagine now I have the main one. I’m just gonna keep working, bro. I love making music, it’s not just a passion I feel like for me it’s kinda like a calling, I was born for this, so for me, it doesn’t stop. Something like this doesn’t pause the work, but edey push me to go harder.”
King Promise
King Promise’s winning mindset and passion for music are evident in his work and experiences over the past years. He sees this award as a step forward rather than a chance to relax.
