Atlantic Lithium Limited has announced a significant new spodumene pegmatite discovery within its 100%-owned Agboville and Rubino exploration licences in Côte d’Ivoire.

The discovery marks a major milestone in the company’s low-cost exploration campaign beyond its Ghanaian operations and signals strategic expansion into a new West African jurisdiction.

“The discovery of spodumene pegmatite at both the Company’s Agboville and Rubino licences represents a momentous occasion for Atlantic Lithium’s first low-cost exploration campaign in Côte d’Ivoire.”

Keith Muller, CEO of Atlantic Lithium

According to the company, the discovery includes high-grade lithium assay results from rock-chip sampling at both sites, with lithium oxide (Li₂O) grades reaching up to 1.25%.

The samples confirm the visual identification of spodumene mineralisation observed during initial field mapping. The exploration work is being conducted by the company’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Khaleesi Resources SARL.

Muller further noted that the results validate the potential of the Company’s Ivorian tenure and represent an exciting step toward discovering Africa’s next major lithium deposit.

In addition to rock-chip sampling, Atlantic Lithium has reported impressive results from the Phase 2 soil sampling programme conducted at the Rubino licence.

The data indicates pronounced lithium-in-soil anomalies spanning approximately 2.5km by 2.0km. Notably, these anomalies remain open to the northeast, where the company has already completed a Phase 3 soil sampling programme and is awaiting results.

“The anomalies show clear prospectivity and could be a precursor to a future discovery.

“We are encouraged by the early signs and remain focused on unlocking further value.”

The Agboville and Rubino licences, located within the same regional geological belt that hosts the company’s flagship Ewoyaa Lithium Project in Ghana, add a new layer of strategic depth to Atlantic Lithium’s portfolio.

The region is geologically aligned with other high-grade spodumene deposits in Mali, indicating strong potential for commercial-scale resources.

Strategic Diversification

The licences were granted in May 2024 and mark Atlantic Lithium’s first exploration efforts outside of Ghana.

Despite this new development, Muller emphasized that the company’s primary focus remains the progression of the Ewoyaa Lithium Project, which is currently in the permitting phase ahead of a Final Investment Decision.

“While our priority is clearly Ewoyaa, the Côte d’Ivoire assets present an attractive opportunity for value creation through diversification.

“We intend to apply our proven exploration methodologies from Ghana to these new targets.”

The company’s experience in tropical weathering environments—an essential factor in West African lithium exploration—will guide its activities in Côte d’Ivoire.

The concurrent development strategy also reflects Atlantic Lithium’s broader ambition to emerge as a key spodumene producer on the African continent.

Spodumene, a lithium-rich mineral, plays a vital role in the global transition to clean energy due to its use in electric vehicle (EV) batteries and energy storage systems.

The global race to secure lithium resources is accelerating, with Africa fast emerging as a vital hub for supply diversification.

Atlantic Lithium’s expansion into Côte d’Ivoire positions the company to become a dual-jurisdiction operator with substantial growth prospects.

“These encouraging results mark an exciting milestone for Atlantic Lithium’s exploration efforts in Côte d’Ivoire, where the Company aims to discover Africa’s next major lithium deposit.”

Keith Muller, CEO of Atlantic Lithium

The company’s dual-track strategy—driving Ewoyaa towards production while advancing exploration in Côte d’Ivoire—strengthens its long-term competitiveness and supply potential amid surging global demand for lithium.

With Phase 3 soil sampling results from Rubino expected soon, and fieldwork ongoing across the Agboville and Rubino licences, stakeholders and investors can expect additional updates in the coming months.

The company is also expected to ramp up geochemical and geophysical surveys, followed by a maiden drilling campaign, subject to exploration outcomes.

As Atlantic Lithium continues its expansion, its growing presence in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire reinforces West Africa’s role as a frontier for lithium development, helping to meet the demands of the global energy transition.
