CalBank has reaffirmed its commitment to shaping the future of Ghana’s young people with its strong participation in the 2025 edition of the Tertiary Unlocked programme.
The Bank, through its Youth Banking Unit, continues to focus on equipping young Ghanaians with practical financial knowledge and the essential skills that allow them to transition successfully into tertiary education and the evolving world of work.
Speaking at the event, the Head of Youth Banking at CalBank, Nannie Abankwah, highlighted the bank’s long-term vision for youth development. Event Engages Students With Real-World Learning
The 2025 edition of the event, held at the CalBank Head Office in Accra, brought together senior high school graduates, career coaches, facilitators, and industry experts. Themed “Designing Your Tertiary Journey: Learn, Innovate, Succeed,” the programme exposed participants to design-thinking methodologies, hands-on problem-solving activities, and career development tools essential for navigating both academic life and the job market.
Students were guided through interactive sessions that encouraged critical thinking, creativity, and introspection. The event provided a unique blend of theory and practical engagement, helping participants understand the demands of tertiary education and the expectations of future employers.
Through presentations, group workshops, and role-play exercises, participants explored ways to discover their strengths and passions—insights crucial for making informed academic and career decisions
Task2Hire Launched to Bridge the Skills Gap
One of the major highlights of Tertiary Unlocked 2025 was the highly anticipated launch of Task2Hire, a groundbreaking edtech solution created to equip tertiary students and young graduates with the soft skills necessary to excel in competitive work environments.
The platform was introduced during a reflective Self-Discovery Workshop led by Akua Ampah, Founder and Lead Consultant of ClearPath Career Consult and convener of Tertiary Unlocked. She explained that the initiative responds to a critical need: students increasingly require exposure to real-world tasks, mentorship, and practice-based learning.
“Today’s students need more than academic knowledge they need exposure, mentorship, and the ability to solve real problems. Task2Hire is designed to help them build those competencies intentionally.”
Akua Ampah
According to her, the Self-Discovery Workshop played an essential role in preparing participants to engage purposefully with the new platform. By first grounding students in an understanding of their strengths, values, and career aspirations, the workshop ensured they could use Task2Hire to align learning with real opportunities.
The event also featured the dynamic Problem-Solving and Pitch Challenge, where student teams presented bold, innovative proposals on how organisations can attract and retain Gen Z talent. The challenge encouraged students to think critically about workplace culture, inclusivity, performance management, and technological tools that resonate with their generation.
The winning teams received a package of mentorship opportunities, internship placements, and other prizes sponsored by CalBank and its partner organisations. This segment underscored the programme’s objective of empowering students not only to learn but to create and influence change.
The pitch challenge showcased the creativity and determination of the participating youth, demonstrating that with the right support systems, Ghana’s next generation of workers and leaders is well-positioned to thrive.
CalBank’s Long-Term Vision for Ghana’s Youth
CalBank maintains that investing in young people is central to building a resilient and innovative future for Ghana. The bank says it will continue supporting youth-focused programmes like Tertiary Unlocked, which encourage financial literacy, responsible career planning, and the cultivation of essential soft skills.
The institution’s growing portfolio of youth development initiatives reflects its belief that Ghana’s Gen Z population is ready to rise—equipped with the creativity, technological insight, and willingness to challenge norms that are necessary for national transformation.
By backing trailblazing innovations such as Task2Hire and engaging students through thought-provoking platforms, CalBank is helping shape a generation capable of driving Ghana’s economic and social progress in the years ahead.
