Cenpower Generation Ltd, owners of the Kpone Independent Power Plant (KIPP), has hosted a high-level Japanese delegation at the KIPP site, highlighting the growing cooperation between Ghana and Japan in the energy and infrastructure sectors.

The visit underscored shared interests in sustainable power generation, private-sector investment, and long-term development partnerships.

The delegation was led by Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ms Ayano Kunimitsu, and accompanied by the Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, Mr Hiroshi Yoshimoto. They were received by the Board Chairman of Cenpower Generation Ltd, Mr Samuel Nana Brew-Butler, together with members of the company’s management team.

Welcoming the delegation, Mr Brew-Butler expressed appreciation for Japan’s long-standing support for Ghana’s development and its growing engagement in the energy sector. He described the visit as a testament to the confidence international partners continue to show in Ghana’s investment environment.

The visit featured a guided tour of the KIPP facility, during which members of the delegation observed plant operations and received detailed briefings on the project’s technical design and performance.

Cenpower officials explained how the plant contributes significantly to Ghana’s installed generation capacity and plays a stabilising role in the national power system.

The delegation was briefed on the operational processes, safety systems, and environmental management practices at the facility, as well as the plant’s role in supporting industrial activity and energy security.

The tour offered the visitors a firsthand look at how private-sector-led power projects can complement national development objectives.
