The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) wrapped up the final trading session of the week on a positive note, reinforcing investor confidence as the market continued its impressive upward trajectory.
Despite a decline in trading volume and turnover compared to the previous session, the benchmark market index edged higher, while six listed equities recorded gains against just one loser.
The latest performance underscores the resilience of Ghana’s equity market, with the GSE Composite Index maintaining its strong momentum and delivering an exceptional year to date return that continues to attract the attention of investors.
The bullish sentiment also pushed the total market capitalization of the Ghana Stock Exchange to GHS 287.1 billion, reflecting growing value creation on the local bourse.
Intravenous Infusions Leads the Charge
The biggest winner of the trading session was Intravenous Infusions Limited, which posted an impressive 7.69 percent gain to close at GHS 0.28 per share. The stock shared the top spot with Hords Limited, which also climbed by 7.69 percent.
Cocoa Processing Company joined the list of top performers after recording a strong 7.14 percent increase in its share price, while Clydestone Ghana added 0.58 percent to its value.
The broad-based gains demonstrated renewed buying interest across different sectors of the market, suggesting that investors remain optimistic about the prospects of selected listed companies.
On the downside, TotalEnergies Marketing Ghana was the only stock to close in negative territory after shedding 1.8 percent of its share price. However, the single decline was not enough to dampen the overall positive market sentiment.
Trading Activity Remains Healthy
A total of 24 listed equities participated in trading during the session, with six gainers and only one loser highlighting the strength of the market.
Kasapreko Plc emerged as the most actively traded stock by volume after recording approximately 1.75 million shares exchanged. The strong activity in the beverage company’s shares reflected sustained investor interest.
Intravenous Infusions followed with one million traded shares, reinforcing its position as both one of the session’s most active and best-performing stocks.
CalBank also attracted significant investor attention with 292,902 shares changing hands, while MTN Ghana recorded 214,823 traded shares to remain among the market’s most actively traded equities.
At the close of trading, investors exchanged a total of 3,467,885 shares valued at GHS 6,620,711.23.
Although trading activity represented a 5 percent decline in volume and a 64 percent drop in turnover compared with the previous trading day, market analysts note that the positive movement in share prices indicates that investor confidence remains intact.
Composite Index Continues Historic Climb
The benchmark GSE Composite Index continued its remarkable ascent, gaining 25.16 points, representing a 0.17 percent increase, to close at 14,805.95 points.
The latest advance extended the market’s impressive performance across multiple timeframes.
Over the past week, the index delivered a gain of 0.8 percent. During the last four weeks, it has appreciated by 2.83 percent.
Even more striking is the market’s year to date performance. The GSE Composite Index has now generated an outstanding return of 68.82 percent, making it one of the strongest performing equity markets in the region.
The sustained growth reflects improving investor sentiment, stronger corporate fundamentals in selected sectors and increasing participation in Ghana’s capital market.
Financial Stocks Hold Firm
While the broader market advanced, the GSE Financial Stocks Index remained unchanged at 8,240.66 points.
Although the index did not record any movement during the trading session, it continues to post encouraging returns over longer periods.
The financial index has gained 0.4 percent over the past week and 2.13 percent during the last four weeks.
Its year to date return now stands at an impressive 77.33 percent, underlining the remarkable recovery and resilience of listed financial institutions on the Ghana Stock Exchange.
Banks and other financial companies have continued to benefit from improving market confidence, stronger earnings expectations and growing investor appetite for financial sector equities.
Market Capitalisation Reaches New Milestone
One of the biggest highlights of the trading session was the continued rise in the overall value of the Ghana Stock Exchange.
Market capitalization increased from GHS 286.8 billion to GHS 287.1 billion, adding approximately GHS 300 million in market value within a single trading day.
The increase reflects the combined impact of rising share prices and sustained investor demand for listed equities.
The continued expansion in market capitalization also strengthens the position of the Ghana Stock Exchange as an increasingly attractive destination for both local and international investors seeking long term investment opportunities.
Positive Momentum Sets the Tone
The final trading day of the week reaffirmed the resilience of Ghana’s stock market. Even with softer trading activity, the market managed to register broad gains, lift overall capitalization and extend one of the strongest year to date performances in recent years.
With investor confidence remaining firm and several stocks continuing to post healthy gains, market participants will be watching closely to see whether the positive momentum carries into the coming trading week.
If the current trend persists, the Ghana Stock Exchange could continue to strengthen its reputation as one of Africa’s standout equity markets in 2026.
