The Chairman of the Division One League (DOL) Super Cup Committee, Rabeh El-Eter, has hailed X1 Energy Drink’s decision to become the headline sponsor of the 2026 DOL Super Cup, describing the partnership as a significant milestone for Ghana’s second-tier football competition.
With preparations gathering pace ahead of the August tournament, El-Eter said the sponsorship reflects growing confidence from the corporate sector in domestic football and provides another platform to strengthen the commercial appeal of the game.
The 2026 X1 DOL Super Cup will be staged at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi from August 10 to 18 and will bring together eight clubs in a pre-season competition designed to prepare newly promoted Ghana Premier League sides and other top-performing Division One clubs for the upcoming campaign.
Now in its third edition, the tournament has become an important fixture on the domestic football calendar in the off-season.
It offers clubs valuable competitive matches before the start of the new league term while providing supporters with an early glimpse of teams expected to challenge in the months ahead.
Committee Chairman Welcomes Landmark Partnership
El-Eter believes X1 Energy Drink’s involvement represents more than a commercial agreement, insisting it demonstrates increasing belief in the potential of Ghanaian football.
“We are delighted to welcome X1 Energy Drink as the headline sponsor of the DOL Super Cup. This partnership is a huge endorsement of the work being done to develop domestic football and create meaningful opportunities for clubs and players.”

He noted that private sector investment remains essential to the continued growth of competitions outside the top flight, where clubs often depend on greater visibility and financial backing to sustain development. “The commitment shown by X1 Energy Drink goes beyond sponsorship,” El-Eter added. “It is an investment in the future of Ghana football, particularly the clubs, players and communities that form the backbone of the Division One League.“
The committee chairman also commended the Ghana Football Association’s Executive Council for securing the partnership, expressing confidence that it would help raise the profile of the competition and attract greater interest from fans and corporate stakeholders.
Tournament Offers Key Preparation for Premier League Debutants
This year’s competition will feature the three clubs promoted to the Ghana Premier League alongside five other top-performing Division One League sides.

FC AshantiGold 04, Debibi United and Port City, all of whom secured promotion from their respective zones, will use the tournament to fine-tune preparations ahead of their maiden campaigns in Ghana’s top flight.
Each club will be competing in the Premier League for the first time in its history, making the Super Cup an important opportunity to measure themselves against quality opposition before the season begins.
Joining them are Zone One runners-up Tamale City, Zone Two runners-up Semper Fi FC and Zone Three runners-up Ebusua Dwarfs. Completing the eight-team field are the two best third-placed finishers across the three zones, Attram De Visser (Zone 3) and Nsuopun Fidelity (Zone 2).
The format ensures clubs that narrowly missed promotion also benefit from additional high-level competition, while creating a balanced tournament featuring some of the strongest teams from the Division One League.
Competition Continues to Grow in Importance
Beyond serving as a pre-season event, the DOL Super Cup has developed into a valuable platform for identifying emerging talent and increasing the visibility of clubs outside the Premier League.
El-Eter believes the addition of X1 Energy Drink as headline sponsor will further enhance the quality and stature of the tournament, benefiting players, clubs and supporters.

He stressed that stronger commercial partnerships are vital to improving the overall standard of domestic football and creating opportunities for young players to showcase their abilities on a bigger stage.
The choice of the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi as host venue is also expected to provide a fitting stage for the week-long competition, with matches scheduled between August 10 and August 18.
As the third edition approaches, expectations continue to rise that the tournament will build on the success of its previous editions. For the newly promoted clubs, it offers invaluable preparation before entering the demands of Premier League football, while for the remaining participants it presents another opportunity to demonstrate their quality ahead of the new campaign.
With enhanced corporate backing, a competitive field and growing interest from stakeholders, the 2026 X1 DOL Super Cup is shaping up to be another important chapter in the continued development of Ghana’s domestic football landscape
