SIC Insurance Shareholders Set for GH¢20m Dividend Windfall As Profit Hits GH¢84m

SIC Insurance PLC has delivered a major financial boost to its shareholders after recording a sharp rise in profitability for the 2025 financial year and approving a total dividend payment of GH¢20 million.

The company’s impressive performance has strengthened its position in Ghana’s insurance industry, with profit after tax jumping by 57.3 percent to GH¢84.05 million, compared with GH¢53.41 million recorded in 2024.

The strong results have set the stage for shareholders to benefit directly from the company’s improved financial position, following approval of a dividend of 10.22 pesewas per share at the company’s Annual General Meeting.

GH¢20 Million Dividend Approved

The dividend declaration represents one of the major highlights of SIC Insurance’s 2025 financial performance.

Shareholders approved the payment of GH¢20 million in total dividends, translating into 10.22 pesewas for every share held.

The payout comes at a time when the company has significantly strengthened its profitability, giving investors an opportunity to share in the gains recorded during the year.

The improved dividend performance could also boost investor confidence in SIC Insurance, particularly as shareholders continue to assess companies based on their ability to generate sustainable profits and return value to investors.

Profit Soars 57 Percent

SIC Insurance recorded a remarkable improvement in its bottom line during 2025.

Profit after tax increased from GH¢53.41 million in 2024 to GH¢84.05 million in 2025, representing a growth of 57.3 percent.

The company’s profit before tax also recorded significant growth, climbing from GH¢83.21 million in 2024 to GH¢117.74 million in 2025.

The figures point to stronger underlying business performance and improved earnings capacity.

Speaking at the Annual General Meeting, Board Chairman Bernard Ahiafor attributed the performance to higher insurance revenue and improved investment income.

“This performance reflects the sustained confidence of our policyholders in the SIC brand and continued diversification of our product offerings and growing relevance of insurance as a cornerstone of financial resilience for businesses and individuals.”

Fire and Motor Insurance Lead Business

SIC Insurance’s core insurance operations remained central to its strong performance, with fire and motor insurance emerging as major contributors to revenue.

Fire insurance generated approximately GH¢209.54 million, making it the company’s largest contributor during the year.

Motor insurance followed with GH¢178.84 million.

The performance of these segments highlights the continued importance of SIC Insurance’s established product lines while also demonstrating the company’s ability to generate substantial revenue from its core operations.

The company’s diversification strategy is also expected to remain important as it seeks to expand its market relevance and strengthen its ability to meet the evolving needs of businesses and individuals.

Investment Income Climbs

Beyond its insurance operations, SIC Insurance benefited significantly from stronger investment returns in 2025.

Investment income increased from GH¢36.28 million in 2024 to GH¢46.77 million in 2025.

This represents an increase of more than GH¢10 million within a year.

The company said the stronger investment performance was supported by returns from fixed deposits, treasury bills and bonds.

The growth underscores the importance of investment management to the overall financial performance of insurance companies, which typically invest part of their funds to generate additional income while maintaining the capacity to meet policyholder obligations.

For SIC Insurance, the stronger investment income provided another important source of earnings during the year.

Assets Reach GH¢1.53 Billion

SIC Insurance also ended 2025 with a substantial balance sheet, reflecting the scale of its operations and financial resources.

Total assets stood at GH¢1.53 billion at the end of the year.

At the same time, equity attributable to shareholders reached GH¢786.28 million.

The figures provide a strong foundation for the company as it seeks to consolidate its recent gains and potentially expand its operations across Ghana’s competitive insurance market.

The growth in shareholders’ equity is particularly significant because it provides an indication of the company’s financial strength and the value attributable to its owners.

Capital Adequacy Remains Strong

Another major highlight of SIC Insurance’s performance was its capital adequacy position.

The company recorded a capital adequacy ratio of 222.68 percent, significantly above the regulatory minimum of 150 percent.

The strong ratio indicates that SIC Insurance maintained a substantial capital buffer relative to the regulatory requirement.

For policyholders, investors and other stakeholders, maintaining adequate capital remains crucial because it strengthens an insurer’s ability to absorb unexpected financial pressures and continue meeting its obligations.

The company’s capital position therefore adds another layer of confidence to its strong profitability and balance sheet performance.

Stronger Outlook for Shareholders

With profit after tax rising by more than half, investment income increasing and capital adequacy remaining comfortably above the regulatory threshold, SIC Insurance enters its next financial year from a position of considerable strength.

The GH¢20 million dividend also gives shareholders a tangible return from the company’s improved performance.

The 2025 results demonstrate how stronger insurance revenue, diversified products and effective investment management can combine to deliver significant improvements in profitability.

For shareholders, the immediate reward is the approved 10.22 pesewas per share dividend.

For SIC Insurance, however, the bigger challenge will be sustaining the momentum, expanding its market share and continuing to deliver profitable growth while maintaining strong financial resilience.

The latest results have certainly given investors plenty to celebrate, with SIC Insurance emerging from 2025 with stronger profits, higher investment income, a robust capital position and a GH¢20 million dividend payout.
