Afro Nation Portugal has unveiled the first wave of artists for its 2027 edition, confirming Nigerian stars Davido and Rema alongside Congolese singer Fally Ipupa as headliners for the seventh installment of the festival. The announcement, made on September 23, 2026, signals another major celebration of Afrobeats, amapiano, and African music culture on the sands of Praia da Rocha in Portimão, Algarve.
The festival will run from June 9 to 11, 2027, roughly a month earlier than recent editions that typically took place in early July. Organizers described Davido, Rema, and Fally Ipupa as “three giants of African music,” all returning performers at the event. The shift in dates places the gathering closer to the start of the European summer while retaining its signature beachfront setting.
Davido, the Nigerian-American superstar, has a long history with Afro Nation Portugal. He was among the original headliners when the festival launched in 2019 and has returned multiple times since, including appearances in 2022, 2023, and 2025.
His latest album, Oriadé, released in July 2026, has further expanded his global reach. Rema previously headlined the 2024 edition and continues to build on the international success of tracks such as “Calm Down.” Fally Ipupa brings a strong Francophone and Central African presence, adding depth to the bill.
The main Lit Stage will also feature Omah Lay, Victony, Odeal, Shenseea, Valiant, Rayvanny, Bamby, and Miimii KDS. Congolese-French artist GIMS joins as a special guest, while South Gidi Experience-the live project involving DJ Tunez and DJ Maphorisa featuring Wizkid and Mavo is set to close the final night. This mix underscores the festival’s ongoing commitment to showcasing both established Afrobeats names and rising talents from across the African diaspora and the Caribbean.
Amapiano receives dedicated attention on the Piano People stage, led by South African pioneer Kabza De Small and the duo TxC. Special guest Dlala Thukzin will join a roster that includes 031Choppa, 2woBunnies, Benzo, Thatohatsi, Uncool MC, W4DE, Young Stunna, Zee Nxumalo, and others.
The Afrotronic stage will host Caiiro, Djeff, Jamiie, Aniko, and JNR SA, catering to electronic and deep-house audiences.
Afro Nation Portugal first arrived in Portimão in 2019 and has grown into one of the Algarve’s largest international music events. Organizers report that it typically draws more than 40,000 attendees from over 180 countries each year, generating significant economic activity for the region.
The festival positions itself as the world’s biggest celebration of Afrobeats, amapiano, and African music and culture, blending high-energy performances with a beach party atmosphere.
