Chelsea have secured the long-term future of Cole Palmer after the England international signed a new contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until June 2034.
The 24-year-old attacking midfielder has agreed to an improved deal that extends his previous contract by 12 months and includes an increase in salary, underlining Chelsea’s commitment to building their future around one of their most influential players.
Palmer expressed his delight at committing his future to the Blues, citing the club’s direction and ambitions as key factors behind his decision to sign the new agreement. “Chelsea means a lot to me and I think the club is going in the right direction, so I’m delighted to sign and I’m obviously very happy,” Palmer remarked after penning the new contract.
Since joining Chelsea from Manchester City in August 2023, Palmer has established himself as one of the most productive attacking players in English football, delivering goals, assists and match-winning performances across domestic and international competitions.
He has recorded 91 goal contributions in 138 appearances for the Blues, while helping the club win the FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Conference League. His individual achievements have also established him as a central figure in Chelsea’s long-term plans.
Palmer Commits to Chelsea’s Ambitions
Palmer’s decision to extend his contract follows discussions with Chelsea’s ownership, sporting directors and head coach Xabi Alonso, with the midfielder revealing that the club’s ambitions played a significant role in reaching an agreement.

The England international said the confidence shown in him by the club’s leadership convinced him that extending his stay was the right decision. “Speaking to the owners, to the sporting directors and obviously the manager, they gave me a lot of confidence, so it was only right to sign,” Palmer explained.
He also highlighted the shared ambition within the dressing room, expressing his desire to help Chelsea compete consistently for major honours.
“Speaking to players as well, everyone has the same ambitions. I feel like we win major trophies here consistently and I want to be a part of that and play a big role in it too.”

The new agreement represents a significant long-term commitment from both parties, with Chelsea protecting the future of a player whose influence has grown considerably since his arrival.
The improved salary also reflects Palmer’s importance to the club, although Chelsea have not publicly disclosed the financial details of the revised contract.
Record-Breaking Rise Since 2023
Palmer enjoyed a remarkable debut campaign at Stamford Bridge during the 2023/24 season, scoring 25 goals and providing 19 assists across competitions.
His performances included six goals across back-to-back Premier League hat-tricks, demonstrating his ability to influence matches through both his finishing and creativity.
The midfielder’s outstanding season earned him Chelsea’s Player of the Season award, voted for by supporters, as well as the Players’ Player of the Season honour.

He also received wider recognition after being named Premier League Young Player of the Season and PFA Young Player of the Year.
Palmer maintained his decisive influence during the following campaign, producing a hat-trick of assists in Chelsea’s victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers before making Premier League history with four first-half goals against Brighton & Hove Albion.
He also delivered on the European stage, registering two assists in Chelsea’s UEFA Conference League final victory over Real Betis in 2025.
During the summer of 2025, Palmer played a pivotal role in Chelsea’s FIFA Club World Cup triumph, scoring twice and assisting Joao Pedro in a 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the final.
His ability to perform in high-pressure matches has strengthened his standing within the squad and reinforced his reputation as one of the club’s most important attacking players.
Last season, he recorded 14 further goal involvements, including a goal against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League and another hat-trick against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Injury Setbacks Fail to Derail Long-Term Plans
Despite his impressive performances, Palmer has experienced fitness problems that have disrupted his involvement over the past year.
His injury concerns limited his participation for Chelsea last season and contributed to his omission from England’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup under Thomas Tuchel.
Also, he withdrew from England’s squad for the recent international fixtures after suffering another fitness setback.
However, Chelsea received encouraging news ahead of their Premier League meeting with Bournemouth after Alonso confirmed that Palmer had returned to training and was available for selection.
The update offers hope that the midfielder can regain full rhythm and maintain his contribution to Chelsea’s attacking play as the season progresses.
Palmer has started the current campaign positively, registering four goals and two assists in Chelsea’s opening seven matches.
His new contract arrives as Chelsea look to build a team capable of challenging consistently for major domestic and European honours.
The agreement provides long-term stability and an opportunity for both parties to build on the success the has already achieved in west London, with the midfielder determined to play a central role in Chelsea’s pursuit of more silverware.
