Ghanaian Afrobeats and Highlife star King Promise has released the official music video for his new single “Melody,” marking the visual debut of his first solo track of 2026.
The video premiered on 23 October 2026 on the artist’s official YouTube channel and is available alongside the audio on major streaming platforms. Directed by CEOJAY, the clip presents a stylish and sensual visual interpretation of the song’s romantic theme.
King Promise himself described the video as “made with all the sexiness in the world” when announcing its release.
“Melody” is an upbeat yet smooth record that blends Afrobeats, Highlife and R&B. The song centres on the beauty, movement and magnetic attraction of a woman, with a memorable hook that equates her presence to a melody that stays in the mind.
Production was handled by Gideonite, also known as Gideon Frempong. The track runs just over three minutes and features King Promise’s characteristic melodic delivery and warm vocal tone.
The single was released under Sony Music Entertainment West Africa Limited in partnership with 5 Star Entertainment Limited. It arrives as the first official solo release from King Promise in 2026 and is positioned as the lead single from his anticipated new album, expected in 2027.
This release follows a busy period for the artist. Earlier in 2026 he collaborated with Nigerian star Mr Eazi on the joint project See What We’ve Done, which topped the charts in Ghana. He also worked with Chelsea Football Club on the track “Can’t Tame Us,” the official anthem for the club’s London to the World campaign.

That project included community activities in Nungua, the Accra neighbourhood where King Promise grew up.
Born Gregory Bortey Newman, King Promise has built a substantial catalogue since his breakthrough. His studio albums include As Promised (2019), 5 Star (2022) and True to Self (2024). He is known for hits that combine Ghanaian musical roots with broader Afropop and R&B sensibilities, including tracks such as “Terminator,” “That Way” and “Mariana.” His music has earned consistent airplay across Ghana and an international following.
Beyond the Recording
Beyond recording, King Promise is the founder of Rent Paid, an initiative that encourages physical fitness, community engagement and cultural activity, with proceeds supporting the Nungua Orphanage in his hometown.
The Chelsea collaboration highlighted this community-focused work by bringing a football tournament to Nungua.
The “Melody” video continues the promotional cycle that began with the audio release on the same day. King Promise announced the song’s availability with the message that the video would drop later that afternoon, thanking fans for their support.
Fan accounts and media outlets quickly shared the visuals, contributing to early momentum on social platforms and YouTube.
In the broader context of Ghanaian and West African music, the release fits a pattern of established artists balancing collaborative projects with solo work that reinforces their signature sound. King Promise’s approach has consistently emphasised melody-driven songwriting and polished production, qualities that have helped his records travel beyond Ghana’s borders.
Public Reaction
Industry observers note that “Melody” arrives at a time when African music continues to expand its global footprint. King Promise has been among the Ghanaian artists contributing to that visibility through both commercial releases and strategic partnerships. The new single and its accompanying video maintain the romantic, feel-good lane that has defined much of his recent solo output while signalling the start of a new album cycle.
The official music video is available on YouTube via the King Promise Official channel. Streaming links for the audio are accessible through major platforms including those promoted by the artist and his label partners. As the track continues to circulate, attention will turn to how it performs on charts and playlists, as well as further details of the 2027 album and any associated live events, including the previously mentioned Promiseland 2026 plans.

King Promise’s latest release reaffirms his position as a consistent presence in contemporary Ghanaian music. By pairing a strong melodic single with a visually striking video, he has delivered a complete package designed to engage both longtime listeners and new audiences.
The combination of established craft and fresh visual presentation positions “Melody” as an early highlight in what is expected to be an active period for the artist leading into his next full-length project.
