South African music producer, Master KG has disclosed that he will like to work with singer, Nomcebo Zikode, despite the rift between them.

Master KG, speaking in an interview noted that the success of a song is not dependent on only one person, therefore he wouldn’t mind collaborating with Nomcebo to release another song.

“I would definitely like to make more music with Nomcebo in the future. She has her unique style and her own way of making things happen. I believe the success of the song was not from one side. It was me and her getting together and making it happen”.

Speaking about his single hit with Nomcebo, Master KG averred that “‘Jerusalema’ is the biggest song we have released to date. Ordinarily, it should have been a cause for unity and celebration. But it has somehow divided us”.

The South African music producer, opened up on his alleged rift with singer, Nomcebo Zikode. KG who produced the song, claimed that he is not ‘beefing’ the singer however, there is a misunderstanding that might be resolved. According to Master KG, he doesn’t have any issue with Nomcebo, however, the whole issue is rather between Nomcebo and record label, Open Mic. He also admitted that Namcebo and him have not spoken for a long time.

Kgaogelo Moagi, known professionally as Master KG has had his hit song 'Jerusalema', chosen by Jay-Z as one of his Top 40 songs for the year 2020.

“There is no drama with me and Nomcebo, just a misunderstanding here and there. The issues are with her and Open Mic, not me. We don’t have an issue, well, from my side. She said she was not paid. At the end of the day, the masters are owned by Open Mic, both she and I are just performing artists, and they need to resolve the issue with splits and stuff. We haven’t spoken in a long time, I see her posts and I like them. I also understand that she is busy, and we are always touring. Maybe soon, when the matter is resolved we will get together and celebrate the success of the song”.

It can be recalled that in July 2021, South Africans were startled after Nomcebo revealed that she had not been paid her royalties despite Jerusalema’s international success.

Things got heated when Master KG quickly took to his Twitter to denounce the claims, alleging that the vocalist had received money, but later deleted his tweets. He accused Nomcebo of being greedy for allegedly demanding 70% royalties from the song instead of the agreed 50%.

‘Jerusalema’, recorded with DJ Master KG, became one of the most popular songs of 2020 and a soundtrack of the pandemic. It reached No 1 in Belgium, Romania, the Netherlands, South Africa, and Switzerland. It reached No 4 on Billboard’s world digital song sales chart and went triple platinum in Italy and double platinum in Spain.

On YouTube, the song has garnered over 420million views, while the remix featuring Nigerian artist Burna Boy has had more than 21million views.
