NDC Is Attempting To Rebrand Mahama – Nana Akomea

The Managing Director of State Transport Company (STC), Nana Akomea, has stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is on a mission to rebrand Former President John Dramani Mahama, following his speech on the state of the country’s economy on Thursday, October 27.

According to him, Former President Mahama is not a new face in Ghana’s political environment, as he has held both Vice President and President positions respectively, and has a track record which needs to be checked when he compares himself to President Akuffo Addo.

“They have started it, but we wait to see how the attempt to rebrand Mahama will go. I have said it severally that, he is not new and he has a track record which needs to be tracked when he speaks.”

Nana Akomea

Speaking in an interview on Friday October 28, Mr Akomeah noted that the NDC and Mahama are doing anything possible to make Ghanaians have a different perception about them after being in power for eight years.

He further indicated that Former President Mahama is known quantity and therefore will be measured by his own track record when he says anything.

The Managing Director mentioned that even though the country is going through severe economic Crises, Mahama and the NDC was not the best option for Ghanaians.

Mr Akomea stated that Mahama is not a flagbearer yet but one may think he is, due to the way he is treated by his party during national events. He added that the party is being bias to the Former President as it can prevent other people from vying for the position.

“He is not a flagbearer yet but if you came from abroad, you will think Mahama is the flagbearer of the NDC; When they are doing national events, they have his pictures in the background and have him also speaking at major event. That is crude bias’’

Mahama’s Speaks On State Of The Economy

Former President, John Dramani Mahama, on Thursday October 27, gave a speech on the state of the current economic crises which has had more that enough negative impact on Ghanaians.

Ghana, acoording to him, is on record as having the highest food inflation in the world at 122% notwithstanding the much-touted but grossly mismanaged Planting for Food and Jobs programme.

He noted that grappling with treasury bill rates of about 30% as local investors in the financial instruments suffer huge risks associated with lending to government.

Mr Mahama who was speaking on the theme; “Building The Ghana We Want’’ made some suggestions which the NDC think can minimize the crises.

He called on the ruling government to cut down on corruption, wasteful expenditure at the Presidency and sack of the finance Minister as part of measures to curb the economic challenges in the country.

President Mahama indicated that, We are in crisis so this is not the time for arrogance and insulting posturing, it is the time for listening, utmost humility and for honest contemplation.
