Cynthia Ofori-Dwumfuo

Hollard Ghana, with subsidiaries, Hollard Insurance and Hollard Life Assurance, has joined a retail partner, Melcom Limited to launch an initiative to help increase insurance penetration in the country, as part of its insurance awareness week celebration.

Cynthia Ofori-Dwumfuo , Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs for Hollard insurance, speaking on the motivation for the initiative, noted that the company is concerned about making insurance accessible to everyone.

“This initiative affirms the goal of our unconventional partnership to increase insurance penetration through a diversified distribution model.

“As a purposeful company, we are committed to enabling more people to create and secure a better future”.

Cynthia Ofori-Dwumfuo

Cynthia Ofori-Dwumfuo stated that as part of the company’s core mandate, Hollard insurance will always put the customers interest at heart.

Cynthia Ofori-Dwumfuo

The Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs assures prospective customers that her outfit will put in place a team that will handle them with caution and respect. She thus, entreated all customers to pass by their office to make enquiries about the different packages they have.

“Our dedicated sales executives will be available to treat them with utmost care at our Hollard on-the-go booths. Customers are encouraged to pass by any of the select shops and learn about how to secure a better future”.

Cynthia Ofori-Dwumfuo

Ramesh Sadhwani, the Managing Director of Melcom Group Ghana, expressed his excitement over the partnership.

“As a leading retailer and a corporate partner to Hollard Ghana, we are happy to participate in this drive for financial inclusion via creating awareness for basic insurance needs.”

Ramesh Sadhwani

Mr Sadhwani noted that insurance penetration is still low in Ghana and hopeful that the partnership will help to increase it.

“With insurance penetration around 1% in Ghana, we believe this activity will not only increase insurance accessibility but impact the society positively by the time all is done.”

Ramesh Sadhwani

The Managing Director of Melcom Group Ghana called all customers across the country to visit any of the participating stores to learn about life and non-life insurance products including motor insurance, home appliance plan, cell phone insurance, travel insurance, life, accident and saving policies.

The participating Melcom shops are Weija, Afienya, Spintex, Tema, Opera Square, Bibiani, Santasi, Adum, East Legon, North Industry Area (LFS), Takoradi, Frafraha, Sunyani, Ashiaman, Haatso, Ahodwo, Ablekuma, Suame, and Tamale.

Daniel Boi Addo, Managing Director (MD) of Hollard Insurance, however, stressed the need for Ghanaians to be more educated about insurance companies and their policies.

The Managing Director observed that less than one-third of the population know something about insurance and its policies. He therefore, advocated for education for the rest of the population.

“… there have been a lot of growth but there are still issues about image that we need to address. More education is needed going forward.”
