‘Kweku the Traveller’ hitmaker, Black Sherif has successfully garnered over 100 million digital streams on Audiomack.
The Ghanaian promising star since emerging onto the music scene in 2019 has become known for his relatable lyrics and recently achieved a similar feat after getting 100 million streams on Boomplay.
Expressing his excitement after he became the first Ghanaian artiste to achieve this milestone, Black Sherif said his growth and support from the fans has been immense and that is what has been pushing him to do more.
According to Black Sherif, “It’s big to get 100 million streams because if you can trace the streams, I was having two years back and the year after, you’d see that it’s crazy. The growth has been amazing and the support I’m getting is marvelous, so it’s always congratulations to us for the empowerment and inspiration. Because if you do 100 million what shows that you can’t do 200 or 300 million. So I’m grateful to the fans, DJs, and everybody who has been very supportive”.
Meanwhile, due to Black Sherif’s fast rise and back-to-back feats, several people have suggested that he has become a great threat to some artists.
However, Black Sherif in the interview stated categorically that he is not a threat to the musical existence of the already established artists in the music scene.
“Everyone is playing their part in the music industry and just like I’ve been saying, we’re all contributing our part so I don’t see that I’m a threat to anyone,” Black Sherif said.
Responding to Shatta Wale’s warning that he should not be compared with Black Sherif in one of his viral videos on social media, the Konongo-born singer said he’s also a fan of the Shatta Movement (SM). Therefore, his fans should support his music without comparisons.
Black Sherif, also replied the Hiplife artiste, Kwaw Kese for his recent rant on Twitter about Burna Boy’s performance of ‘Second Sermon remix’ alone without the originator.
Touching on the issue, Black Sherif said the views expressed by Kwaw Kese on social media can only be his personal opinion on the issue.
“Kwaw Kese didn’t tell me that Burna Boy has disappointed me, he said it on his Twitter handle and that’s what he thinks,” Black Sherif said.
However, Black Sherif noted that Burna Boy has not disappointed him. According to him, “anyone who said that Burna Boy has disappointed me because he didn’t take me along for his shows was only expressing their opinions because Twitter is about sharing your opinion”.
Black Sherif explained that “Personally, I don’t see it like that because I also have my plans so if our days don’t tally you can’t just stop what you are doing but I know that when I get on the road we will surely link up for shows”.
It is worth mentioning that recently Black Sherif and Burna Boy performed in the UK at a concert held by the African Giant singer which was an album listening event organized for Burna Boy’s newly released album titled ‘Love, Damini’.
