Ghana’s creative industry may soon see more investment from the Chief Executive Officer of McDan Group of Companies, Daniel McKorley.
The business mogul, known for his investments across other sectors of the economy, including aviation, has revealed he is willing to pump more resources into the creative arts sector.
Mr. Daniel McKorley revealed that Ghanaian creatives were super talented and hard working but lacked the financial investment to catapult their careers to the next level. He cited Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy as cases in point.
“I can tell you that Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy are some of the most talented artists in Africa. None of these Nigerian artists comes close to them, although they are also talented. Their (Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy) music and stage performances are amazing.”

Asked why he would want to invest in the sector, Daniel McKorley highlighted the great financial potential of the creative economy.
“That space brings a lot of money, and I smile where there’s good money, but it’s not my space, so I would want to sit back as the godfather to support (financially, etc.) people to get into that space. You can’t be everywhere. If you’re living in the system, you have to give others a shoulder.”
Daniel McKorley
He also called on other businessmen to invest in the creative sector since musicians and other creatives are great ambassadors of the country.
“I believe in my heart that they need serious support from businessmen. They are our ambassadors, and I feel we need to invest more in them. I’m not really into that space, but I can see some good young upcoming talents as well.”

In 2022, Daniel McKorley awarded Ghanaian multidisciplinary creative George Quaye a $2 million contract.
George Quaye, the Team Lead for ImageBureau, has, in the past few years, been vibrant in the field of theatre. Together with his partner Naa Ashorkor, they have staged several brilliant plays, aiming to help project theatre in Ghana.
Daniel McKorley on Path to Greatness
Just as he does, the Ghanaian billionaire talked about his book, ‘Path of an Eagle’, which talks about his path to greatness.
The autobiography (book) of Daniel McKorley provides a compelling look into his life and, for the first time, provides a glimpse into his whole life, which the general public is not aware of.
After taking his time to tell his life narrative, the book provides a detailed overview of his life and how his varied experiences have influenced his current station and circumstances.
However, the rich man revealed he doesn’t want to be more successful than his children; if he does that, he has failed as a father.
Daniel McKorley’s success in business and his professional life stand in stark contrast to his upbringing in poverty, making his life a life of contrasts.
Moreover, Mr. Daniel McKorley urged philanthropists, non-governmental organizations, and corporate institutions to expand their social responsibility initiatives to support widows across the country.
He emphasized that privileged individuals must assist the less fortunate, especially given the current economic challenges.
He pointed out that it is futile to drive luxury cars while widows continue to suffer in communities nationwide.
“I challenge those who want to help widows to come forward and offer their support. I also hope other NGOs will join in to assist those in need, as they truly deserve our help.”
“We can’t keep driving our luxury cars while our mothers and sisters are suffering in our communities. It just doesn’t make sense. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to reach this point in life have a responsibility to support the less privileged so that God will continue to bless us.”

McKorley expressed his joy at being able to bring together thousands of widows to celebrate International Women’s Day while bringing smiles to their faces.
He emphasized that the McDan Foundation considers it essential to support widows to alleviate poverty and end their suffering across the nation.
