‘Might give it all away’- Davido suggests after raking over 180m from friends

Nigerian singer, Davido has hinted at what he might do with the over 180 million Naira donated to him by his friends. In a recent tweet, he suggested that he might be using all the cash donations as giveaways.

The ‘Fall on you’ singer made this known on his Twitter handle where the whole donation started. He wrote: “Might give it all away”.

Davido’s freewill donation has currently hit a whooping sum of 184 million Naira. Per reports, but for the restriction of the bank designated for the fundraising due to undisclosed reasons, Davido would have raised more than he currently has.

Two days ago, Davido opened a new account and asked his friends to gift him 1 million Naira each ahead of his birthday.

Calling for the donations, Davido quoted the famous saying, ‘We rise by lifting others’ and went on to note that he has done his part by lifting several people up. Therefore, it was time for people he calls his friends to lift him up by sending him one million Naira each.

Just after Davido’s request, his friends came out in their numbers to donate. Within nine hours, the singer exceeded his 100 million Naira goal and increased the stakes to 200 million Naira. The donation as of the last update he gave stood at 184 million Naira.

Meanwhile, following several backlashes from social media users, award-winning Ghanaian musician, Stonebwoy reacted to Davido’s request.  In response to Davido’s call, Stonebwoy in a fleet of Instagram stories asked the musician to hold on for alert.

Davido actually requested a couple of Ghanaian musicians including Shatta Wale, Medikal, Stonebwoy, Edem, and Darkovibes, to send him 1million naira each. Out of the lot, Medikal was the only Ghanaian collaborator who made an effort to send Davido money.

Well, donate or not, Davido can boast of several donators who have shown him love. Some of Davido’s donors include Nigerian businessmen, Obi Cubana and Femi Otedola. The singer, however, did not disclose the amount sent to him from the likes of Femi Otedola, Obi Cubana, E-Money, Patoranking, and some others.

Away from money and donations, Davido has announced he will be releasing a new song at midnight, 19th November 2021, ahead of his birthday celebration on the 21st.

He shared the news on his official Instagram page saying, “NEW MUSIC AT MIDNIGHT W.A.T #championsound”.

Seyi Tinubu, the son of Bola Tinubu, the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), appealed to the singer, Davido to organize a free concert for his fans. Seyi Tinubu via his Instagram story pointed to the fact that Davido has started a new wave and for the fact that he has been shown great love by his fans, it will be noble on his part to appreciate his fans with a free concert.
