Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, Davido has caused a stir on social media after disclosing how much his new performance rates now cost.

This comes after the 30-year-old disclosed in a YouTube video uploaded by American jewellery company, Icebox, over the weekend, that he does fewer shows because he now charges $600,000.

“I mean now I charge $600,000 for a show. Now it is less. Actually. Because fewer people can pay. I do three to four shows in a month, which is $2 million to $3 million”, Davido said.

Multiple social media users have commented in the light of his statement. Below are some comments:

“If you charge $600K that means Odogwu Burna will charge x4. OluwaBurna is on a different level”, dmoneygamer7509 commented, trying to estimate Burna Boy’s price.

“He’s worked hard for it and he deserves it. The likes of Jay Z, Drake, and Beyoncé charge in millions”, another user wrote, noting that the price tag matches his hard work.

“I love David so much  … I don’t like the way he mentions his figures. It’s unnecessary, we all know he’s the richest with so much evidence. I’m not a hater because I know y’all gonna come for me. I’m just looking out for him because not all will be happy seeing him succeed. I really hope one of his team members sees this and gets this message to him”.

“Davido can sing better than Wizkid and new cat Burna Boy, Davido still gets money pass”.

“Money is in this music thing ooo. Someone close to me now said Ronaldo can buy a portable as a pet”.

“No wonder Davido does not want to come to Benin to perform. Who would pay that kind amount?”.

“You definitely know he’s capping about the show’s price”.

The multi-award-winning megastar, Davido announced that he is moving the dates for his 2023 European tour which is scheduled for Q4 2023 to Q1 2024.

Davido is one of the biggest artists in the world whose music has contributed massively to the exportation of Afrobeats to a global audience.

Davido also announced that his Manchester show would be his last European date for 2023 while the remaining date will be rescheduled for 2023.

In the statement released via his social media handles, Davido stated that the postponement would give him and his team more time to sort out the production hitches they are facing to give fans a better show.

“One of my greatest joys this year has been reconnecting with all of you during my Timeless Tour. I’ve been humbled to see so many of you show up at sold-out shows across North America and Dubai. The energy has been incredible, bless you all”, Davido wrote.

“I am passionate about giving you a truly timeless experience, every show, every time – One that you all deserve. So, with this in mind I’ve made the decision that after the show in Manchester, I will be moving my remaining European dates until Q1 2024. The additional time allows us to sort out some of the production issues we have been experiencing and gives us time to improve and create a bigger and more immersive show.

“Please accept my heartfelt apologies, but as I have said, there is a time for everything, and I believe that taking a few months now to make your experience perfect will be time well spent. For anyone who has already purchased tickets, please hold on to new dates coming soon. Peace & Love”.

Davido released his highly anticipated 4th album ‘ Timeless’ on March 31, 2023, which went on to break multiple Nigerian streaming records.
