Bawumia’s Team Denies Bribe Allegation By Kennedy Agyapong

The Campaign Team of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has rejected claims that it has approached the Assin Central Member of Parliament and the aspirant for the New Patriotic Party 2023 Presidential primaries, Kennedy Agyepong for a running mate offer for the 2024 General Elections.

In a statement released by the Spokesperson and Technical Advisor to the Vice President, Dr Gideon Boako, the Campaign Team for Dr Bawumia called on the general public to treat the statement made by Mr Kennedy Agyapong with contempt.

“The Bawumia campaign team has noticed with grave concern news report by Citinewsroom.com and other media outlets in which the Hon. Kennedy Agyapong is alleged to have indicated that some members of the Bawumia Campaign team attempted to bribe him to step down and be made the running mate to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

We wish to state in unequivocal terms that the Bawumia Campaign team has not approached Kennedy Agyapong for such a running mate offer, nor have we assigned any member of the team to approach him for the same.”

Dr. Gideon Boako

The Campaign Team also denied allegations by Mr. Kennedy Agyapong that Vice President Dr. Bawumia is collapsing the New Patriotic Party through intimidation.

According to the Vice President’s Campaign Team, the unity in the New Patriotic Party is of great concern to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and it is in that regard that he has refrained from responding to unwarranted attacks by others in the contest and has cautioned his supporters against responding to such provocative attacks.

The Vice President’s Campaign Team emphasized that the strategy of the Vice President has been to persuade delegates to support his bid and it has done so by laying his vision for the party and country.

The Vice President’s Campaign Team therefore called on all stakeholders ahead of the party’s November 4 National Delegates Congress particularly aspirants to refrain from any actions that will undermine the unity and cohesion within the New Patriotic Party.

“As we have always maintained, the contest for flagbearer in the NPP is an internal one, and all actors, particularly the aspirants must be guided by the core values of the NPP, which include but are not limited to truth, decorum, and respect for one another”.

Kennedy Agyapong Alleges Bribery By Team Bawumia

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential aspirant, Mr Kennedy Agyapong has alleged that the Campaign Team of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia made the move to grease his palms to accept an offer to become his running mate but he rejected the offer.

He also stressed that Dr. Bawumia is forcefully engaging in foul political play that has the tendency to destroy the New Patriotic Party.

Mr Agyapong made these wild allegations at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi in the Ashanti region after a march organized by his ardent supporters dubbed “A SHOWDOWN WALK”

Mr. Agyapong who is seeking to lead the NPP in the upcoming 2024 polls reiterated that Vice President Dr Bawumia and his team were intimidating party members who were not his supporters which is against the principles of the party.

The “Showdown Walk” Saw indigenes in the Ashanti region thronged the principal streets of Kumasi to march to show their unflinching support for the New Patriotic Party Presidential hopeful, Mr Kennedy Agyapong.

The majority of people who joined the walk expressed worry over the current economic challenges in the country under the watch of President Akufo Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia led New Patriotic Party administration as their main reason for throwing their weight behind the Assin Central Member of Parliament.

The majority of New Patriotic Party NPP sympathisers also disclosed that they have the firm believe Kennedy Agyapong is the only candidate in the presidential race who can help the party break the 8-year jinx come 2024.
