Professor Ransford Van Gyampo, a political science lecturer at the University of Ghana, has questioned the ongoing demand for the autopsy report of the late President John Evans Atta Mills.
Professor Ransford Van Gyampo reacting to the news of some members of the late President Mills family demands for his autopsy report in a meeting with President Akufo-Addo, raised concerns about the relevance and urgency of discussing the autopsy report of the late former President at this point in time.
“Dr. Cadman Mills says he has a copy of the autopsy report of the death of his brother, President Atta Mills. So why go discuss this with the President? Is he a hospital archive or a Medical Doctor? Is this the most important thing to the people of the local community of President Mills?”

The Political Scientist further emphasized the need for citizens to prioritize pressing national issues over individual concerns, especially in the context of ongoing efforts to hold the government accountable for essential matters.
Professor Ransford Van Gyampo thus admonished the general public to focus on discussion and conversations that involves critical national matters and could ultimately help to improve the general wellbeing of Ghanaians.
“Did President Mills die mysteriously? Was he hale and hearty and died suddenly? What will an autopsy report do for anyone at this particular moment and point in time when we are expected to keep the government on its toes to ensure that it delivers on our bread and butter issues”.

Gyampo Criticizes President Akufo-Addo’s Remarks Over Denying Ekumfi Development
Moreover, Professor Ransford Van Gyampo, strongly criticized President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s recent comments suggesting that he overlooked development in Ekumfi due to the residents’ decision to vote out the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament, Francis Ato Cudjoe, in the 2020 general elections.
In a scathing statement, Professor Gyampo questioned President Akufo-Addo’s understanding of his role as the President of the country, describing his comments as ‘unpatriotic and unpresidential’.
He further expressed deep concerns about the potential impact of such statements from no less a person than the President of the country could have on the country’s unity.
He highlighted the importance of President Akufo-Addo serving as a father for all citizens, regardless of their voting patterns, emphasizing that the taxes of Ghanaians belong to the nation and should be used to develop the entire country.
“The President cannot use the voting pattern of a people as a basis to marginalize them in terms of development, and then brazenly brag about it. As a human being, the President can be disappointed about the voting pattern of a people. But he cannot use this as a basis to marginalize them in terms of development, and marshal the guts to brazenly brag about it.
“Who are his handlers? Did it lie in his mouth to say what he said even if that was the truth? The Gas say “anokwale ni dwaa man l3, awieee”, to wit, the truth that destroys a nation must be shelved. So how come the President didn’t know this? Is it because he is on his way out?”
Professor Ransford Van Gyampo
Drawing attention to the need for legislation guiding the behavior of presidents during their exit from power, Professor Gyampo urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to distance itself from such ‘unpresidential comments’ by President Akufo-Addo and cautioned that failure on the part of the party could adversely affect its electoral fortunes in the next election.
Professor Ransford Van Gyampo also underscored the importance and the need for political leaders in the country to foster national unity and avoid divisive rhetoric, especially during periods of political transition to safeguard the peace and harmony of the country.
