President John Mahama's 120-day assessment.

President John Dramani Mahama

John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the NDC, has emphasized that Ghanaians deserve a brighter future, especially young people who should thrive in a Ghana where opportunities abound, and their dreams can become reality.

Addressing the NDC’s final rally on December 5, 2024, the former President stressed the need for peaceful and sustainable development.

He highlighted the importance of creating an environment where young Ghanaians can secure well-paying jobs, care for their families, and live with dignity and pride.

Mahama also underscored the need for fairness and recognition in the public sector. He stated that public sector workers deserve acknowledgment based on merit, along with stability, predictability, and improved working conditions.

These, he added, are critical to fostering a motivated and productive workforce that can drive national progress.

“Entrepreneurs deserve a free and fair market where their industry can thrive. Women and girls deserve true equality, safety, and a chance to reach their full potential. And every Ghanaian deserves leadership that puts the people first, that fights corruption, and that builds a nation we can all be proud of.

“This is why I am committed to building a stable, safe, and viable 24-hour Economy to create opportunities for millions of jobs to be created. I am committed to implementing an economy to fight inflation to make food more affordable for all Ghanaians”.

The former President emphasized his commitment to establishing the leanest government in the nation’s history, pledging to appoint no more than 60 ministers and deputy ministers. “And also a lower number of political appointees”.

He vowed to eliminate wasteful government spending and abolish the payment of ex-gratia.

Mahama emphasized his unwavering commitment to fighting corruption and reclaiming all misappropriated funds.

John Mahama highlighted that the “Operation Recover All Loot” initiative would be pursued with steadfast determination to recover stolen monies and assets.

These resources, he stated, would be redirected toward Ghana’s development and used to create opportunities for the nation’s youth.  “I will fight corruption to restore integrity and fairness which are two critical ingredients missing from the government of Akufo-Addo and Bawumia”

Furthermore, John Mahama reaffirmed his dedication to empowering women and ensuring they are not treated as second-class citizens.

He highlighted the NDC’s proposal to establish a Women’s Development Bank, aimed at enhancing the economic well-being of women by providing tailored support to strengthen the foundation of women-led businesses.

Acknowledging the enormity of the task ahead, Mahama admitted that achieving these goals would require collective effort.

As such, he urged Ghanaians to support him by voting in the upcoming elections on Saturday, December 7th, 2024.

“Your vote is your voice [and] power. Your vote is the key to unlocking the bright future of Ghana.  Ladies and gentlemen, I urge you to take action on Saturday. This is not a decision we can leave for another time. It is not a decision we can leave for another election or another generation.

“This is our moment and that time is now to bring about the change we need in order to reset Ghana. We need to reset our democracy, economy, finances, culture, and health and education sectors. It is a collective responsibility and so let us vote to reject despair and choose hope”.

John Dramani Mahama

The former President acknowledged that Ghanaians will hold the NDC to a higher standard than the NPP if it wins the upcoming election.

He therefore cautioned the NDC against seeking political power only to repeat the same misdeeds perpetrated by the NPP.

He emphasized that the party must rise above such actions to meet the expectations of the Ghanaian people.  “My brothers and sisters, Ghanaians are going to put their trust in us on December 7th and we must prove ourselves worthy of that trust”.

Mahama promised that the NDC would collaborate closely with Ghanaians to deliver the transformative change the nation urgently requires. “I will make you maore proud of the Ghana that we are going to build together”.

He urged the NPP, security agencies, and all election officials to refrain from engaging in any improper actions during the elections.

The NDC flagbearer emphasized that both the party and the people of Ghana would safeguard their votes and stand against any efforts to compromise the electoral process.
