The Deputy National Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Godwin Ako Gunn has criticized the New Patriotic Party administration under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for failing to provide impactful leadership for the country over the period it has been in power.
The Deputy National Communications Officer of the opposition party in a strongly worded statement highlighted President Akufo-Addo’s past involvement in mass actions and demonstrations, to protest against bad leadership, and chastised President Akufoo-Addo for failing to deliver on the promise he offered Ghanaians when he was running for President.
“Everything that has a beginning has an end. Indeed, there are a lot of lessons that must be learned from hero worshippers. The regrets are many. Nana 3ba ooo Nana 3ba oooo, Nana ewie y3 ni !!!
“Ask yourself objectively what you fought for and what was delivered to you by Nana Addo and Bawumia. It takes sober reflection to do this. Be careful of hero-worshipping. Man is mortal”.

Mr Ako Gunn also accused President Akufo-Addo of avoiding press engagements and running away from accountability, which according to him raises concerns about transparency particularly under President Akufo-Addo’s second term.
The Deputy Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress further chastised President Akufo-Addo for his apparent endorsement of his Vice President, Dr Mahamuudu Bawumia.
Mr Godwin Ako Gunn commenting on the internal affairs of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), accused President Akufo- Addo of causing division within the party by ousting the party’s former National Chairman, Paul Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong ahead of the 2016 election for his interest.
He noted that the fragmentation that occasioned as a result of the removal of the two former national executives of the ruling party has left the party with a “disoriented and confused” membership.

Furthermore, the Deputy National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress lamented over the current state of the country and described the country as a polarized nation divided along ethnic and religious lines, and attributed it to the poor leadership of President Akufo-Addo.
Mr Ako Gunn criticized the use of identity politics in elections by the New Patriotic Party flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, and urged the next National Democratic Congress government to prioritize healing the nation with love and unity.
Touching on the state of the country’s economic condition, Mr. Ako Gunn asserted that the country’s financial status is unsustainable due to the New Patriotic Party administration’s lack of prudent management of the state resources over the past seven years it has been in power.
He cited the inability of the country to pay its debts, the implementation of the domestic debt exchange program which denied pensioners and other individuals of their bonds, unpaid contractors, and eroded capital for businessmen due to high inflation and an unstable currency to buttress his position.
Moreover, Mr Godwin Ako Gunn posited that the repercussions of the mismanagement of the country’s economy by the New Patriotic Party administration have severely impacted all the various sectors of the economy and Ghanaians including teachers, doctors, workers, and even members of the ruling New Patriotic Party.
Closing his statement, Mr Ako Gunn expressed skepticism about the upcoming State of the Nation Address and further encouraged citizens to remain hopeful for better years to come.
He urged the National Democratic Congress flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama to address corruption and emphasized the importance of accountability in nation-building when he assumes power in 2025.
