The National Democratic Congress (NDC) General Secretary, Honorable Fifi Fiavi Kwetey has accused the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for being responsible for the country’s economic downturn.

Mr Kwetey in scathing critique described the Vice President leadership as the head of government’s Economic Management Team as a “Tale of Failure”.

He accused the New Patriotic Party administration under President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu of supervising the worst economic downturn in Ghana’s economic history.

“After more than seven years at the helm, Ghana’s economic situation has disastrously deteriorated, sinking far below the conditions this administration inherited in 2017”.

Honorable Fifi Fiavi Kwetey

The National Democratic Congress General Secretary further chastised the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for brazenly awarding himself a perplexing 70% performance score in the management of the country’s economy.

Mr Kwetey described the Vice President’s self-acclaimed 70% performance score as profound detachment from reality and a mark of gross incompetence as the Head of the Economic Management Team.

Furthermore, the former Member of Parliament for Ketu South blistering critique highlighted the stark disparity between the government’s self-proclaimed successes and the lived experiences of ordinary Ghanaians grappling with the harsh realities of economic hardship.

He chastised Dr. Bawumia’s audacity in claiming any measure of success while overseeing such evident economic decline, characterizing his performance as an “unmitigated disaster” and a “blatant affront to the intelligence of Ghanaians.

Central to Mr Kwetey’s indictment is the assertion that Dr. Bawumia’s Economic Management Team has failed to address fundamental economic challenges facing the country, leading to widespread suffering and disenchantment among the populace.

He noted that key indicators such as inflation rates, unemployment figures, and debt levels all paint a bleak picture of Ghana’s economic landscape under the current administration.

Political Rhetoric’s over Tangible Policy Solutions

Moreover, Honorable Fifi Fiavi Kwetey strongly argued that despite promises of economic transformation and prosperity, the reality on the ground tells a different story, with many Ghanaians feeling the pinch of rising prices, stagnant wages, and limited job opportunities.

He accused the ruling New Patriotic Party administration of prioritizing political rhetoric over tangible policy solutions, leaving the economy mired in a state of stagnation and decline.

The NDC General Secretary’s thus called for accountability and transparency in economic governance, urging Ghanaians to reject the narrative of success peddled by the ruling administration and demand real change.
