A couple of the major and most anticipated global fashion events: Paris men’s fashion week and the haute couture shows have been stalled for June and July due to the COVID-19 pandemic,

According to a statement from the Federation de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (FHCM), their decision to postpone the event is to ensure the safety and health of the fashion houses, their employees and everyone working in the industry.

“The board of directors have come to the decision that, in the present conditions, the menswear Paris Fashion Week, scheduled from June 23rd to June 28th, 2020, and the Haute Couture Week scheduled from July 5 to July 9, 2020, cannot take place. However, the Federation is actively working with its members on possible alternatives,” it said.

While these well-known French fashion houses among the many businesses falling victim to the pandemic, others like Yves Saint Laurent and Balenciaga of the luxury Kering group, are producing surgical face masks in their bid to help those at the frontline fight the coronavirus.
