Yaw Tog has set a new record as he is now the first Ghanaian musician to ever reach 1 million streams for his music video on YouTube within the first three days of release.

Yaw Tog, a Ghanaian hip hop artist.

Ghanaian rising star, Thorsten Owusu Gyimah, popularly known as Yaw Tog is gearing up to release an Extended Playlist (EP).

Taking to his social media page, the excited teen-hip-hop artist posted the EP cover and wrote: “TIME EP DROPS ON FRIDAY. SHOUTS TO EVERYONE WHO MADE THIS PROJECT POSSIBLE AND ALSO SHOUTS TO @EMPIRE FOR THE SUPPORT. #WORLDWIDE #TIMEEP #FRIDAY”.

Per the reactions from his post, his fans and social media users are excited about it. Some mentioned that the EP is going to be another hit just like his single hit song, ‘sore’. Meanwhile, some were of the view that he should have waited for a while before releasing the EP. According to them, fans aren’t done enjoying his latest song, ‘sore’. Therefore, bringing in the EP will be conflicting. However, some argued that it didn’t really matter whether he waits or not since he is bound to release it at a certain point in time. That notwithstanding, others questioned why he didn’t feature the ‘asakaa boys’ in any of the song. To this question, a netizen defended Yaw Tog revealing that, Sean Lifer who featured on ‘Mood’, is part of the ‘asakaa boys’. Some reactions from his post read:

Yaw Demonstrates Versitilty

It is worth nothing that Yaw Tog shows how nifty he is on his current EP. In a recent interview, he noted that the idea of coming out with his EP is to show his versatility.

“I’m very much an ‘asakaa boy’. But I want people to know I can do every type of music, from drill to hip-hop and afrobeats. I want to build connections with this one, with people from every genre”.

Titled ‘Time’, the EP has seven songs including his hit song ‘Sore remix’, which featured Stromzy and Kwesi Arthur. More so, other songs include, ‘Gold Friends’, ‘Boyz’, ‘Fake EX’, ‘Mood’ which features Sean Lifer, ‘Y33gye’, and ‘Time’. The EP will be released on Friday, 26th March, 2021. It is worth noting that five producers helped in producing this EP. The producers are, Khendibeatz, who produced three of the songs, Chrisrich, Doosis, Juiczx, and DG production.

Undoubtedly, Yaw Tog is now at the center of the West African Drill and Hip-Hop movement, with the video for ‘Sore’ being the first within the genre to reach over two million views organically.

Meanwhile, Yaw Tog is currently balancing fame with full-time education. He said that: “It’s kind of stressful but it needs to be done,” and further noted that “I’ll be completing in September and then I’ll be done with it; I can focus on music hundred percent”. Meanwhile, we eat. Also, we laugh
