Africa Day: Check out traditional fashion style of some South African female celebrities

South African female celebrities in celebrating Africa day have taken to their social media handles to display their culture through their dressing.

Today, May 25, the African Union is celebrating 58 years of bringing African nations together under the theme: “Arts, Culture And Heritage: Levers for Building the Africa We Want”, and some South African female celebritiesin celebrating the Africa Day have taken to their social media handles to display their culture through their dressing.  Check them out:

South African actress and author, Florence Masebe posted a picture of herself and a colleague beautifully clad in a traditional South African dress and wrote:

“I live in a part of the world where we wear all our colors at once with pride. Every day of the year. We are Afrika. #HappyAfricaDay”

That notwithstanding, media personality and socialite, Gerry Elsdon sharing a photo of herself in traditional wear wrote:

Radio and Television host Unathi Nkayi also posted a picture of herself wearing a very typical South African dress and wrote: “Raised by Africa. Praised by Africa. Inspired by Africa. Driven by Africa. Happy Africa Day”.

Nonetheless, former Miss SA who is now a businesswoman, Basetsana Kumalo sharing a picture of herself in a colorful traditional wear wrote: “Today we celebrate our culture, diversity, and heritage”

Well, Basetsana wasn’t the only beauty queen who showed the world that she is proud to be African. Beauty queen and businesswoman, Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala also shared a picture of herself in a red flowing dress and accessorized the look with traditional ornaments and headwear.

Celebrity chef and TV host Siba Mtongana was not left out of the fun. She posted a picture of herself in the native wear while holding a food basket and wrote:

“Happy Africa Day! I am Sibahle Zonke Mtongana, I’m from South Africa, born and bred eMdantsane, Eastern Cape. I’m from the amaXhosa heritage, I speak isiXhosa and I’m from Amaqocwa clan, ooZikhali, Mazembe, JoJo, Tiyeka, Butsolo Beentonga”.

Meanwhile, there is going to be a concert to mark the Africa Day celebrations in South Africa. The organizers of  ‘The Africa Day Concert 2021’ announced a star-studded line-up of guest appearances from some of the most well-known faces on the continent and around the world.

This includes Angelique Kidjo, Congolese singer-songwriter Fally Ipupa, and South Africa’s Yvonne Chaka Chaka. Also, here will be performances by some African stars including Ghana’s Gyakie, Nigeria’s Teni and Bella Shmurda.

Nevertheless, the concert will also shine a spotlight on some of the most dynamic emerging artists from all over Africa. It is worth mentioning that these talented young artists will be seen by a global audience for the first time. They include Rozzy Sokota (Sierra Leone), Ary (Angola), and Mohamed Ramadan (Egypt).

Alex Okosi,  who is the Managing Director of Emerging Markets in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at YouTube said: “The Africa Day Concert is an important tribute to Africa.

“We are excited to have the next wave of African artists perform as we celebrate the 58th anniversary of this auspicious day. At YouTube, we are committed to continuing to showcase the power of African talent and creativity to the world.”

Also, the concert will be hosted by Idris Elba, he said: “I’m committed to shining a light on African culture, heritage, and the arts.

“During a year when globally we have all had to reflect deeply on our purpose, I’ve taken inspiration from the continent with its diversity of voices, creativity, and innovation. Here’s to Africa’s Next Global Wave”.
