Lydia Forson slams Lawyer Foh-Amoaning for comments on LGBTQ+

M.Cby M.C

Reading Time: 4 mins read
black stars Award-winning actress Lydia Forson has said that the prayers are not enough and things need to be put in place to end the occurrence of market fire outbreaks.

Award-winning Ghanaian actress, Lydia Forson.

Ghanaian actress and controversial social commentator, Lydia Forson is still fighting for equal rights in Ghana, especially for the LGBTQ+ community as she has slammed Lawyer Moses Foh-Amoaning for his recent comments on the LGBTQ+ community.

This comes on the back of Lawyer Moses Foh-Amoaning, who was recently sacked from the Association of African Albinos over his anti-LGBTQ+ campaign, noting in a recent interview that until 1952, “homosexuality was listed as a mental health disorder” and further mentioned that “LGBTQ+ people are going to die and go to hell”.

Reacting to his comment, Lydia Forson, who clearly took offense to Lawyer Foh’s comments emphasized that activists are fighting against people who ‘look like Foh-Amoaning’ and he is discriminating against others who have a different lifestyle.

“Activists are fighting against the hunting and killing of people who look like you for their body parts in some countries; all because they’re seen as ‘different’. Meanwhile, you that have endured discrimination want to do the same to others? This is so confusing to me”.

Lydia further said: “And putting sinners in jail is going to save people from death and hell? If it’s their souls you care about, then pray for them. Wouldn’t that be the Christian thing to do? The way you people make God check like some wicked man eh”.

Netizens react to Lydia’s post

Her tweet received several mixed reactions from the public. Some were in total disagreement with her tweet as they noted that she took the low road with her backlash against Lawyer Foh-Amoaning. According to them, her reaction was very unnecessary, and that there is nothing discriminatory about rejecting absurdity.

Meanwhile, others who were in agreement with her posited that they are surprised Lawyer Foh-Amoaning is being “homophobic” when he has had a taste of how discrimination is due to his condition.

That notwithstanding, the highlight of all these mixed reactions was when a tweep asked Lydia Forson to stop asking for prayers for homosexuals because God punished them in the Bible. Lydia Forson then questioned why homosexuals are still alive today if the narrative was true.

“According to your Bible, God burnt and destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. I would have thought the last of them would have turned into ashes. But here we are”.

Background of story

Well, the LGBTQ+ discussion in Ghana revived after the Member of Parliament for;Ningo–Prampram, Sam Nartey George took to Twitter to share the progress on the Anti-LGBTQI+ bill.

“I have seen the attacks from a few goons aligned to a political;inclination based on my leadership on the PMB against LGBTQI+ in Ghana. Bow your heads in shame. Nothing would stand in our way to get this bill passed by the House. Take your perversion and let me speak my truth!”.

However, his tweet was greeted with mixed reactions, from the majority of Twitter users and foreigners bashing him for fighting against human rights.
