Shatta Wale, has heavily descended on critics following claims that he has deserted his mother.

Shatta Wale, Dancehall artist

Dancehall musician, Shatta Wale, has jumped to the defense of the TikTok influencer, Asantewaa, after she was attacked on social media for suggesting that without TikTok influencers musicians would have a tough time promoting their songs.

Shatta Wale in a response to the attack stated that Asantewaa’s statement is indeed true. According to him, TikTok influencers have a role to play in promoting a new song.

In a statement on his Twitter page, Shatta Wale said: “She has said the bitter truth, fight with her too. Foolish boys on Twitter”

Meanwhile, following several backlashes Asantewaa received, the Ghanaian actress and a TikTok star, apologized for saying Tiktok stars are the only ones who can make any song popular in Ghana.

Speaking on the United Showbiz, on Saturday, June 18, 2022, Asantewa asserted that it doesn’t matter how good a musician can be, the song may not reach the target market if it is not channeled through the TikTok stars for promotion.

“I have always maintained that it doesn’t matter how long you have played your music game. When you make that song, it is not about your craft, you need to get us on board before it can blow. If not, you will be the only person singing the song… We make the song trend”.

However, her comments didn’t sit well with social media users, and they severely attacked her, which made her apologize to persons who felt disrespected by what she claimed was a “little joke.” She however maintained that she meant no harm because she was just passing a funny comment.

Asantewa, who noted that she is a complete novice when it comes to making music, averred that her comments have been misquoted because she was just joking with her friends (other Tiktok stars) which they enjoyed.

“I think people are misquoting me… if you listen to the video very well, we were all having fun but some people have taken it seriously. A lot goes into writing music. I am not a musician, I cannot sing, I can’t even feature, so if am talking about promotion, am not saying you are not good as a musician because people have known songs without the App. When did Tik Tok come? It was just a few years ago, people got to know songs without it. I am sorry if anybody felt I was talking against them but we were all happy and having fun”.

The TikTok influencer further explaining her point said: “I am so surprised it is just Asantewaa’s name that is just coming out because Wesley was on the show, Jackie, and they were all laughing. You can go back and play the video again. It wasn’t intentional to hurt anybody’s feelings”.
