Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko founder of the Danquah institute and leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has made up with Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, after the latter accused the former of spreading untruths about him.

Otchere-Darko visited the Majority Leader in his office today in the company of O.B. Amoah, the Deputy Minister for local government to make peace with him.

Even though Gabby maintained his position that he never mentioned anywhere that the Majority Leader was behind the calls for the removal of Ken Ofori-Atta, the two leading members of the ruling NPP were able to settle their differences amicably.

The Suame MP in an interview with Kumasi-based Sompa FM lashed out on Gabby Otchere-Darko, Lawyer and cousin of Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.

According to Kyei Mensah Bonsu, Otchere Darko had alleged in an interview on Asaase radio that, he, Kyei Mensah Bonsu, was responsible for the position MPs in the majority side has taken on the Finance Minister.

Uncharacteristic of the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, he questioned the locus standi of Otchere-Darko in government, insinuating that Gabby was not worthy enough to make such damning allegations against him.

Kyei Mensah Bonsu made it clear that he wouldn’t do anything to undermine the government of President Akufo-Addo. “I serve Akufo-Addo, and I serve the party as well as the government,” the Majority Leader said.

Moreover, the Suame Legislator alleged that, this was not the first time Gabby was sabotaging him. According to him, Gabby has worked tirelessly to oust him out of office.

“You [Gabby] are the same person who wrote something for someone to publish on his radio station that I will lose if I contest for re-election, hence my saying that I will not contest again. Gabby Otchere-Darko, have you contested an election before? They are the same people who sponsored people to contest against me in 2016, it didn’t work for them.”

In a facebook post, the cousin of the Finance Minister refuted the Majority Leader’s claims.

“I have said no such thing on Asaase Radio or any other radio station or media house, whether on air or online, either directly or indirectly. Indeed, my position, so far, on this issue in Parliament within the Majority Caucus, has been to deliberately stay away from commenting on it publicly.

“I have never sponsored any candidate against the Majority Leader for the Suame seat. I would never do such a thing to a person I considered a strong loyalist even within the NPP.”

Earlier today, while responding to questions on Gabby Otchere-Darko’s claims that he had never suggested that the Majority Leader was behind the calls for Ofori-Atta’s removal, Kyei Mensah Bonsu said he was unapologetic about his earlier comments on Otchere-Darko.

He revealed that after his public outburst on allegations made against him by Gabby, Gabby sent him a text message. He has however not responded to the text because he still stands by what he said.

“I have seen his text message to me, but I have not responded and I don’t think I will respond. Many of my party folks and colleagues have spoken to me and so I won’t escalate issues.

“Let me however say that I stand by what I said. I won’t add up, neither will I take some out.”
