Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC has strengthened its leadership and corporate governance structure with the appointment of Elsie Enninful-Adu as a Non-Executive Director of the Bank’s Board.

The appointment, which took effect on August 3, 2026, follows approval from the Bank of Ghana and brings more than three decades of experience in the financial services industry to the boardroom of one of Ghana’s prominent banking institutions.

The move is expected to provide Republic Bank Ghana with additional expertise as it pursues its strategic growth ambitions and seeks to deepen its contribution to the country’s financial sector.

A New Boardroom Force

Enninful-Adu arrives at Republic Bank with an extensive professional background covering investment management, private equity, venture capital, corporate finance, capital markets, credit risk, strategic planning, advisory services and sustainable investment.

Her career spans more than 30 years, with over two decades spent at executive level. During this period, she has gained substantial experience in board governance, regulatory matters and strategic decision-making.

Her broad professional exposure is expected to strengthen the Bank’s ability to draw on high-level expertise as it responds to changing conditions within Ghana’s financial services industry.

The appointment also signals the importance Republic Bank places on experienced leadership as it continues to execute its strategic growth agenda.

Extensive Experience Across Financial Services

Enninful-Adu currently serves as an Executive Director of Parkstone Capital, where she designs and leads the provision of advisory services to clients across the financial, legal, education and hospitality sectors.

Her work at Parkstone Capital has further strengthened her exposure to complex financial and corporate issues, while giving her experience working with organisations across multiple industries.

Before joining Parkstone Capital, she served as Team Lead of the Ghana CARES Guarantee Scheme, managed by GIRSAL Limited.

In that role, she played an important part in establishing operational systems and measurement frameworks for the scheme. She also led a team responsible for assessing and processing credit guarantee applications.

The experience provided her with valuable insight into credit risk, financial support mechanisms and the challenges businesses face in accessing finance.

Strong Background in Strategy and Corporate Finance

Enninful-Adu has also held several senior positions within the financial services industry, including roles involving strategic planning, money markets, corporate finance and advisory services.

Her experience across these areas gives her a wide understanding of the mechanisms that influence financial institutions, investors and businesses.

For Republic Bank, the addition of such expertise could prove significant as the institution seeks to expand its operations, strengthen governance and identify opportunities for sustainable growth.

Her background in investment management and capital markets could also bring another layer of perspective to board-level discussions involving investment decisions, risk management and long-term financial strategy.

Academic and Professional Credentials

The new Republic Bank director holds a Master of Business Administration in International Banking and Finance from the University of Birmingham.

She also holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast.

Beyond her academic qualifications, Enninful-Adu is a Certified Valuation Analyst of the National Association of Certified Valuators & Analysts in the United States.

She has also completed several professional courses offered by the Ghana Stock Exchange, further reinforcing her knowledge of Ghana’s capital markets.

Her combination of academic qualifications, professional certifications and extensive industry experience positions her as a seasoned financial sector professional.

Republic Bank Welcomes the Appointment

Commenting on the appointment, Jonathan Prince Cann, Chairman of the Board of Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC, expressed confidence in the contribution Enninful-Adu will make to the institution.

He said her extensive experience across financial services, investment management, corporate finance and governance, coupled with her understanding of Ghana’s financial sector, would be a valuable addition to the Bank.

The Chairman added that the Bank was confident her expertise would contribute meaningfully to its continued growth and strategic ambitions.

His comments underline the strategic importance attached to the appointment as Republic Bank seeks to strengthen its board with individuals possessing deep industry knowledge.

Managing Director Highlights Leadership Strength

Republic Bank Ghana Managing Director, Dr. Benjamin Dzoboku, also welcomed Enninful-Adu to the Board.

According to him, her breadth of experience and strong record of leadership make her a valuable addition to Republic Bank.

He said the Bank looks forward to working with her as it advances its strategic priorities.

The endorsement from both the Board Chairman and Managing Director reflects the confidence the institution has placed in Enninful-Adu’s professional experience and leadership capabilities.

What the Appointment Means for Republic Bank

The appointment comes at a time when Ghana’s banking industry continues to face pressure to improve efficiency, strengthen governance, manage risks and support private sector growth.

For Republic Bank, bringing an experienced financial sector professional onto its Board could strengthen its strategic oversight and provide additional expertise in areas such as investment, corporate finance, risk management and governance.

The Bank said the appointment reflects its commitment to strengthening its leadership and governance capabilities.

As Republic Bank continues to pursue its strategic growth agenda, Enninful-Adu’s extensive industry experience could become an important asset in shaping board-level decisions and supporting the institution’s long-term objectives.

Her arrival therefore represents more than a change in board composition. It is a strategic move that places additional financial sector expertise at the heart of Republic Bank Ghana’s decision-making structure.
