Hon Kwame Asafo Adjei, a former Member of Parliament (MP) for the people of Nsuta Kwaman Beposo Constituency in the Ashanti Region, has expressed dissapointment in the past executives of the party, for looking on for the issues of unauthorized endorsement for some aspirants in the race for the 2024 presidential primary of the party to spread.

According to the former lawmaker, the past executives led by Chairman Freddie Blay and General Secretary, John Boadu must be singled out for blame, for allowing the current political indiscipline exhibited by some aspiring Presidential candidates and their supporters.

Speaking in an interview today, December 5, Hon Asafo Adjei stated that instead of the past executives to ensure discipline in the party, they sat aloof for people believed to be supporters of the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to engage in religious and tribal politics.

Reacting to Hon Kennedy Agyapong’s attacks on the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, during his campaign in the Northern Region, the former MP stated that “Nobody should blame Ken Agyapong, who is the Assin Central MP in the Central Region for his comments on the Vice President”.

“If the past executives had taken action on the then deputy General Secretary, Nana Obiri Boahen, who mounted a radio to tell party supporters that he was the driver of the Mamprusi bus and if the past party executives had instilled some discipline in all who went on that route, we won’t be where we are.”

Hon Asafo Adjei

The former lawmaker, urged the current executives to stomp their authority by ensuring discipline ahead of the presidential primary. He was also quick to ask Ghanaians to forgo all forms of tribal and religious politics.

NPP Presidential Primaries Ahead Of The 2024 General Election

Ahead of the 2024 Polls, all the political parties are expected to organize a primaries for both parliamentary and presidential levels.

In NPP, names like Dr. Akoto, Alan Kyerematen, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia among others has being named ahead of the primaries. All of them are to struggle for vote from the Ashanti Region since it accommodate a lot of the voters.

However it is somehow obvious that the two main talking point are Dr. Bawumia and Alan Kyerematen. Not to say the others are out of contest though, but from what most of the Party’s followers are saying.

In the NPP’s Presidential primaries, there are some constituencies that declares the election hands down. These constituencies are where most of the campaigns are channeled to. The constituencies includes; Bantama and Manhyia North, Berekum East, Sunyani East, Tema West,Dome KwaBenya, Asante Akim Central among others.

To win the primaries, a candidate is expected to at least win five of these constituencies and that is very hard to come by.
