Dr Dominic Oduro-Antwi, the President of the Ghana-India Trade Advisory Chamber (GITAC), has disclosed that the Chamber has put in place a series of programmes to create opportunities for the youth to leverage and harness their potential.
According to the President of the Ghana-India Trade Advisory Chamber, the Chamber, which is trade and investments inclined, has shifted its focus this year to empower the youth in agribusiness, education, and ICT in fulfilment of its five year’s anniversary.
“GITAC will provide scholarships to students including exchange programmes and give support to innovative ideas from the youth. They will also benefit from programmes like health, tourism, technological fair and musical festival.”

Dr Oduro-Antwi made this known at the launch of the Chamber’s fifth-anniversary celebration in Accra. The event which would be year-round began with the media launch and between February 22 and 24, there would be an educational fair where about 20 universities from India would be in attendance to share knowledge with their Ghanaian counterparts.
In March, there would be another educational fair where Ghanaian youth and students would apply for Indian scholarships with the requisite qualifications. Similarly, a Global African Trade Advisory Chamber would be launched in Dubai; and in April, the GITAC would engage the media to understand and propagate the Chamber’s events.
Whilst in May, there would be the Global Annual Event. There would also be healthy tourism where technologies used in building clinics in just three days would be exhibited in June with a technological fair taking place in July.
Mr Nazeer A. Khan, a Member of GITAC, noted that Indian members of the Chamber have investments, including hospitals and polyclinics in Ghana. “We are ready to help the students with scholarships in India. The education opportunities there are very cheap,” he added.
Developing The Human Capital
Reverend Edward Randolph Koranteng, Board Chairman, GITAC, said the events were geared towards developing the human capital that would serve as a business product to be sold and exported to yield a profit for the economy.
The Board Chairman averred that the world is now sustained by the knowledge economy, adding that “the knowledge economy addresses how education and knowledge can serve as a productive asset.”
“This aspect of the economy relies greatly on capabilities instead of natural resources or physical contributions in the knowledge economy,” he said.
Launched in September 2018, the Ghana India Trade and Advisory Chamber (GITAC) has made impressive efforts in promoting trade relations between Ghana and India through collaborations with the India High Commission -Delhi, India High Commission-Ghana and the Ghana Trade and Investment Ministry.
Ghana-India Trade Advisory Chamber, a non-profit organization, was established to promote and enhance trade, investment and cultural interactions between Ghana and India.
In line with its objectives, the GITAC is speedily making progress in building and nurturing of mutually beneficial relationships between Ghana and India through excessive developments after its launch. The chamber has signed on an encouraging number of companies and still making room for more in the various sectors of both countries’ economies.
According to the President of the Chamber, GITAC is doing very well per its set goals and is still in talks with organizations like the Ghana Investment Promotion Council (GIPC), Ghana Chamber of Commerce, Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Ministry of Trade and other international bodies in India to enhance the growth of businesses in Ghana and India.
GITAC consists of sectors, such as Trade, Financial Services, Hospitality, Engineering, Agro- Processing, Manufacturing, Import and Export Services, Information and Communication Technology, Education, Aviation, Shipping, and Logistics. The chamber works under four key areas which include consultancy, advisory, trade and training as stated by the President.
Mr. Dominic Oduro-Antwi said the Chamber would provide consultancy to promote a close collaboration between research and policy formulation in the field of trade and investment to enhance global expertise on trade. He said the chamber is trying to build as many business relations to make their work easier.
