The Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) Commissioner of Police (COP), Mrs. Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, has urged external investors of Ghana not to be skeptical about doing business in the country.

The COP, who happens to be the first female Executive Director of EOCO, assured them of stringent laws to protect their investments made in the country, however, reminded them to conduct a due diligence on their partners in Ghana and avoid bending rules; not following the right processes to invest in the West African country.

Mrs. Addo-Danquah further urged the business community to take advantage of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) and the existence of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (ACFTA) to do business in Africa.

Moreover, she ceased the opportunity to assure delegates that the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) is in a position to assess the credibility of would-be partners before engaging them in any business, thus, should take advantage of the office so they don’t fall for scam schemes.

“Our doors are widely opened for collaboration in the fight against economic and organized crime in Ghana and across the globe.”

This, the Executive Director of EOCO said while touching on the area of collaborating with international law enforcement agencies.

Mrs. Addo-Danquah offered these pieces of advice to investors and her audience, while being honored at the just-ended edition of the Black History Festival and Achievers Award in Columbus, Ohio USA.

The COP was awarded a medal and citation for her significant role in law enforcement and investment protection in both Africa and America.

The award was given to her by the Bureau for International Development Exchanges and Commerce, BIDEC in partnership with the African Union Mission situated in the United States.

During the festival, Ambassador Hilda Suka-Mafudze, Permanent Representative of the African Union to the United States of America in her keynote address through Skype, spoke on the need for the two continents, Africa and America to tighten the existing collaboration between them towards achieving their respective developmental goals.
