The opposition National Democratic Congress Parliamentary Candidate for Ketu South for the 2024 General Elections, Eric Edem Agbana has accused President Akuffo Addo of destroying Ghana through his bad leadership.

He noted that one does not only require an explosion of boom to destroy a nation but poor policies and bad leadership can destroy a country.

The former Deputy Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress expressed his shock about the complete silence of people who used to criticize the erstwhile John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress’s administration. He asserted that the silence of these people makes them accomplices of the poor leadership of the current administration.

“You don’t necessarily need an atomic bomb to destroy a nation. Bad Leaders with their Actions and inactions do that daily.  The stark reality is that President Akufo-Addo is destroying this country. Unfortunately, Moral Society is mute because most of them are no more victims but accomplices”.

Edem Agbana

According to the Youth Activist, many of the things that President Akufo-Addo has gotten away with, are things that Ghanaians particularly the moral society would not have forgiven the National Democratic Congress if it were in power.

The National Democratic Congress Parliamentary Candidate for the Ketu Constituency also urged the Ghanaian youth to begin to speak against authority in the face of injustice.

“You and I are young, and we cannot afford to fail our nation. We must stand up and be counted”.

Edem Agbana

According to Mr Agbana, young people in Ghana have a moral and patriotic assignment to always speak out and demand accountability from the government.

“Be an active part of the efforts to rescue Ghana from the hands of nepotistic, oppressive, corrupt and dishonest leadership”

Meanwhile, the Minority in Parliament and the National Democratic Congress have intensified the campaign towards its scheduled #OccupyBOGProtest on October 3 2023.

In a video released by the party’s Communication Bureau, the party stressed that its protest is a march against the high level of corruption, nepotism, high inflation, unemployment, poor roads, a declining healthcare system and the reckless borrowing of President Akuffo Addo and the New Patriotic Party administration.

The National Democratic Congress is set to continue its community engagement tonight at 6pm at Bombey Korle Wonko in the Odododiodio Constituency which its started yesterday, 26 September 2023 to create awareness about its secheduled #OccupBOGProtest on October 3 2023.

The Minority in Parliament is set to hold its protest March scheduled for 3rd October, 2023 between the hours of 8:00 am and 6 pm.

The change in the date for its protest was due to the disagreement between the Minority and the Ghana Police Service on the route to be used for its protest which was scheduled to take place on September 5 2023.

According to the Minority,  it is embarking on the  #OccupyBOGProtest to express its revulsion towards the many acts of financial malfeasance by the Governor, his Deputies and Directors of the Bank of Ghana as contained in the 2022 Annual Report and Financial Statement of the Bank.

The converging point according to the Minority is Obra Spot, where the protest shall commence and follow the agreed route below; Obra Spot – Adabraka – Ridge Roundabout – National Theatre Traffic Light – High Court Complex Traffic Light – Atta Mills Highway – U-Turn to Independence Square.
