24-Hour Economy Is An Enhanced Version Of 1D1F

24-Hour Economy Is An Enhanced Version Of 1D1F

Honorable Adomako Kissi

Adomako Kissi, Member of Parliament for the Anyaa Sowutuom Constituency, has asserted that the 24-hour economy is essentially a rebranding of the NPP’s 1 District 1 Factory (1D1F) policy.

In his view, the 24-hour economy represents an upgraded iteration of the government’s One District, One Factory(1D1F) initiative, aimed at industrializing the nation’s economy.

Kissi urged Honorable Kofi Adams and the NDC to acknowledge and accept his claims.

“I will say they have done well, in the sense that they have repackaged 1D1F. It is an enhanced version of 1D1F. They have repackaged very smartly what we are doing and we are on that path already. If you look at the things that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration has put in place and even with the new Agric Minister’s Planting for Foods and Jobs 2.0, there is a lot of room for technology.

“John Dramani Mahama and the NDC, I think have been very smart in rebranding it to 24 hours.”

He added that it is an ingenious way of copying what the NPP has done already.

“It is ingenious. It is like the Chinese way; you copy but you copy differently. If it was a student and he was copying, he wouldn’t copy the name of the student he had copied from. That is what they have done.”

He pointed out that not too long ago, COCOBOD initiated a project to supply lights to farmers, which, however, led to public outcry. The necessity of providing lights for farmers became a subject of debate among the public. According to his perspective, the government’s motive behind this initiative was to extend farming hours, given that farming often commences early in the morning or extends into late hours at night.

Consequently, COCOBOD aimed to provide illumination to farmers, empowering them to start early or continue working late into the night, ultimately boosting cocoa production in the country.

“When farmers are working in the night, it is these torch lights that will help them brighten their corners and see what they are doing”, he added.

Mr. Adomako Kissi underscored that the NPP administration is actively striving to prolong working hours for employees across various sectors of the economy.

The Uniqueness Of The 24-Hour Economy

In reply, Honorable Kofi Adams, Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency, conveyed his satisfaction regarding the NPP’s altered stance on the 24-hour economy.

“It is good that we are beginning to have some members of the New Patriotic Party shift from the position of some of their key leaders as far as the 24-hour economy is concerned. And now they are admitting that it is a great idea and it is a good thing and policy that will help this country; that now we are shifting away from the position that it is a bad idea, they didn’t think through it well, some even suggested that chop bars are running and others went on to say that we want to go to our farms and come back to have time to sleep with our wives.”

“Now we are beginning to move away from there and to admit that this is the way to go.”

Kofi Adams

He highlighted that the 1D1F policy, as suggested by Mr. Adomako Kissi, was a commendable initiative that unfortunately never saw effective implementation. He asserted that the government has displayed significant inconsistency in reporting the successes of its policy.

Furthermore, he clarified that the 24-hour economy policy is distinct from the NPP’s 1D1F and is novel in its approach. He elaborated that the policy extends beyond merely prolonging the working hours for a select few individuals; rather, it is a deliberate strategy to establish a productive economy that operates continuously around the clock.

“That is what the John Dramani Mahama’s administration will be doing when it comes to the economy”, he reiterated.
