In a significant move aimed at reshaping the political landscape of Ghana, two prominent political entities, the Movement for Change (M4C) and the National Interest Movement (NIM), have joined forces to establish the Alliance for Revolutionary Change (ARC) to contest the December 7 polls under one umbrella.

The alliance is being spearheaded by Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, founder and leader of Movement for Change and Dr. Michael Abu Sakara Foster, leader of National Interest Movement and former Presidential Candidate of the Convention Peoples Party.

“The Movement for Change (M4C) founded and led by Hon. Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, and the National Interest Movement (NIM), a political Civil Society Coalition, convened and led by Dr. Michael Abu Sakara Foster, have concluded talks with several Political Entities and Individuals to establish a grand Alliance and work together closely to contest the 2024 General elections”.

The founder and leader of Movement for Change in a press statement disclosed that the Alliance for Revolutionary Change aims to challenge the status quo dominated by the two main political parties and usher the country into a new era of governance characterized by inclusivity and progress.

Furthermore, Honorable Alan Kyerematen indicated that while the move signifies a departure from conventional party politics in the country, it is the shared vision of the two groups to mobilize Ghanaians from all walks of life, transcending religious, political, and ethnic divides, with a particular focus on engaging the youth and women to attain political power.

He noted that the primary objective of the Alliance for Revolutionary Change is to elect the first independent candidate as President of the Republic of Ghana in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

Emphasizing a commitment to break the cycle of poverty and pave the way for prosperity, Mr Kyerematen strongly stated that the alliance seeks to address longstanding developmental challenges that have persisted under the duopoly of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Citing what he perceived as the failure of the two major political parties to effectively tackle Ghana’s development issues after 32 years in government, the founder of the Movement for Change noted that the Alliance for Revolutionary Change also aims to dismantle the entrenched polarization and ‘winner takes all’ mentality prevalent in the country’s politics.

Mr Kyerematen further argued that the divisive nature of politics in the country under the duopoly of the ruling New Patriotic Party and the opposition National Democratic Congress has contributed in exacerbating the hardships facing the Ghanaian populace.

Moreover, Honorable Alan Kyerematen asserted that the Alliance for Revolutionary Change envision to build an all-inclusive “Government of National Unity” to bring together diverse stakeholders such as political parties, the business community, farmers, labor unions, faith-based organizations, traditional authorities, civil society organizations, academia, media, and other interest groups.

He also noted that central to the alliance’s agenda is the formulation of a comprehensive National Development Plan that transcends party manifestos and serves as a blueprint for Ghana’s economic transformation.

According to Mr Kyerematen, to achieve such an ambitious goal, the Alliance for Revolutionary Change would work towards undertaking a fundamental constitutional reforms encompassing governance, public sector accountability, management of natural resources, as well as fostering a mindset and attitudinal change among Ghanaians.

The founder and leader for Movement for Change concluded his statement by stating that the official launch of the Alliance for Revolutionary Change is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 17th April 2024, marking a pivotal moment in Ghanaian politics.
