The NDC’s Director of Elections and IT, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has praised the Electoral Commission of Ghana for once again permitting political party agents to observe the voter transfer exercise, a decision he finds refreshing and encouraging.

Dr. Omane Boamah praised the NDC party agents for their tireless efforts in scrutinizing the process, despite recent challenges, and encouraged them to persist in their vigilant monitoring of the voter transfer process, guaranteeing transparency and accountability throughout its duration.

“We commend the rank and file of our party for standing up for transparency by continuing to observe the ongoing Voter Transfer exercise even in the face of NPP’s intimidation and skulduggery. We urge our agents to continue to observe the process”.

Additionally, Omane Boamah commended the Electoral Commission (EC) for rejecting the ruling NPP’s earlier stance, which was widely publicized and reiterated at the emergency IPAC meeting, that they did not want party observers at the centers.

As such, he noted that the EC’s decision marks a significant shift towards transparency, departing from the ruling party’s initial stance that favored secrecy and opacity.

Dr. Omane Boamah further cast doubt on the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) commitment to Ghana’s democratic well-being, suggesting that their intentions may be detrimental to the country’s democratic advancement.

As such, he warned that the NPP is resolute in executing its controversial electoral strategy, which it has openly acknowledged, in a misguided attempt to secure victory, despite potential harm to the country’s democratic integrity. “But they will fail”, he added.

He emphasized that the NPP’s attempts to manipulate the vote transfer process through gerrymandering will ultimately prove futile and fail to achieve their desired outcome, despite their efforts to distort the democratic process.

“The NPP will fail because, with our Eagle Eyes, we shall be ahead of them every step of the way”. – Dr. Edward Omane Boamah

He revealed that the NPP has identified a specific list of constituencies in the Ashanti region as targets for vote transfer manipulation, in a bid to artificially inflate their support and sway the electoral outcome in their favor. “for the other regions your guess is as good as mine”, he added.

Boamah Hails Opposition Parties For Upholding Democracy

Furthermore, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah commended the opposition political parties that stood in solidarity with transparency, endorsing the presence of observers to ensure a fair and accountable process, and praised their commitment to upholding the principles of democracy.

Additionally, Omane Boamah extended his appreciation to the Development Partners and numerous Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), acknowledging their commendable concern and swift response when the EC initially reneged on transparency and attempted to exclude party agents from observing the voter transfer process.

“The NDC does not seek victory in this! This is a national victory over NPP’s myopic officialdom. It’s a victory for Ghana’s democracy. Vote John Dramani Mahama for well-paying jobs through the 24-hour economy initiative”.

Meanwhile, Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa, has commendably acknowledged the Electoral Commission’s (EC) recent decision as a rare victory for transparency, stating that the EC has ‘finally done something right‘ by reversing its initial stance and allowing party agents to observe the voter transfer process.

However, Franklin Cudjoe highlighted that thousands of students from the University of Ghana and six other universities within its vicinity were prevented from registering due to the Electoral Commission’s (EC) restrictive registration venues, which hindered their ability to complete the process.

As such, Franklin Cudjoe, sounded a note of caution to Ghanaians, urging them to exercise heightened vigilance and scrutiny over the Electoral Commission’s actions in this year’s election, to ensure the integrity and transparency of the electoral process.
