Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Nketiah has reiterated the party’s call for a credible voters’ register before the December 7 elections.

Asiedu stressed that a forensic audit by the Electoral Commission is the only way to guarantee the register’s accuracy and integrity.

His call to action emphasized the significance of their nationwide protest, which spans all 16 regions of Ghana, in ensuring a fair and credible electoral process amidst concerns over voter registration irregularities.

“Our demand is simple. We want the EC to ensure a free, fair, and transparent election and a credible register is central to that goal.”

“We want nothing but transparent elections that will guarantee our right to choose our leaders. Without the right of self-determination, democracy is good as gone and every democracy at one point in time, comes under threat Ghana’s democracy is under serious threat now and we want to prevail”.

The NDC stalwart emphasized that every democracy carries the risk of producing a tyrannical leader, but the National Democratic Congress’s ability to resist and restore democratic order is crucial.

He stated that ultimately, the NDC’s resilience and determination will ensure its triumph over any authoritarian threat.

Asiedu Nketiah emphasized that holding elections is just one part of the democratic process and that it is the citizens who are committed to democratic values and willing to defend them who truly safeguard democracy.

He noted that ultimately, it is the collective efforts of informed and engaged citizens that ensure the survival and success of democratic institutions.

NDC Vows To Thwart Alleged EC-NPP Election Rigging Plot

Furthermore, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Deputy Minority Leader of Parliament, vowed that the NDC would prevent the EC from colluding with the NPP to rig the upcoming general elections through a compromised voter register.

Buah stated that by doing so, the NDC aims to safeguard Ghana’s democracy and ensure the electoral process remains free and fair.

At the NDC’s ‘Enough is Enough’ rally, Hon. Buah stressed the party’s demand for the Electoral Commission to heed concerns raised by opposition parties, ensuring a trustworthy and fair election process.

“We want to safeguard our democracy. This call is for the peace and stability of our country. We know that the electoral commission is colluding with the NPP, so we are doing everything to stop it. We know that the register is not credible and we have asked for an independent audit”.

The National stalwart believes that their “Enough is Enough” demonstration is the only way to guarantee a credible and reliable voter register, which is essential for transparent and credible elections in Ghana.

He stated that by taking to the streets, the NDC aims to pressure the Electoral Commission to address concerns and ensure a free and fair electoral process, ultimately giving the Ghanaian people confidence in the outcome.

Meanwhile, Nana Toku, the Western Regional NDC Chairman, further reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to persist in the party’s efforts until their concerns are fully addressed, demonstrating unwavering resolve to ensure their voices are heard

“The EC has presented a register which is not credible to the people of this country and we are saying that, until that register is corrected, we will not rest until they do so. Enough is enough for us and we want peace in this country and therefore they should do the right thing”.

Nana Toku, the Western Regional NDC Chairman

Nana Toku issued a stern warning that if the Electoral Commission (EC) fails to address the NDC’s demands, the party will take further action to ensure their voices are heard.
