Ghanaian gospel musician, Brother Sammy has criticized Christians for condemning lottery and sports betting.

Brother Sammy stated that Christians were wrong and hypocrites to speak against people who play the lottery or engage in sports betting.

The gospel musician shared that a lottery winner is responsible for constructing a church he recently performed. He said that he has never played the lottery but will not hesitate to do so if he dreams about it or gets some lottery numbers from somebody.

“Christians want to forcefully take out lottery and sports betting from the religious faith. A lottery winner built the church I recently performed in. Why aren’t we honest with Christians? I have never played the lottery, but I will play if I dream about it or an expert gives me lottery numbers to stake.”

Brother Sammy, who recently accused Ohemaa Mercy of lying about her divorce, said that it is not a sin for an individual to play the lottery or engage in sports betting.

“Playing the lotto is not a sin. Sports betting is also not a sin,” he added.

The musician opined that there is no difference between the regular and American visa lottery, which people in Christian circles praise. He urged Christians not to scare people away with their attitudes.

Brother Sammy’s comments about the lottery and sports betting triggered mixed reactions from some Ghanaians on social media.

He also explained why most ladies in the church are still single. According to him, most women in the church have a poor sense of fashion.

He used his colleague, Diana Asamoah as an example by revealing how she looks more appealing to the eye after changing her fashion style.

“You’ll go to the church and see young women tie their hair in scarf. They wear long dresses that cover them up and make them look shapeless. How will a young man looking for a wife be attracted to something like that?

“If you dress like an old woman, the young men will keep picking wives from the clubs. The women in these clubs dress to attract.”

Brother Sammy has chosen who he will vote for in the 2024 Presidential elections.

The musician stated that his choice is not based on policy or manifesto but on the candidate’s party’s showing him respect.

According to the Nation’s Worshipper, as he is affectionately called, the political party has approached him to produce a song for their 2024 campaign and has already taken half of the payment.

He explained that, per their agreement, he hopes to receive his balance after he has finished shooting the video for the song.

Brother Sammy stated that he had been drawn to the political party that had recognized his contributions to the industry and his worth as a musician and thus would vote for them because of their recognition.

“I’ve been approached to produce a song for one of the presidential candidates. I must say that I feel very honored that all these people know me and gave me the needed respect as a musician to produce a song for them.

“I am drawn to them and will vote for them. I would have produced the song even if the money was one cedi because what motivates me is the fact that they gave me the recognition and came to me to produce a song for them.”

Brother Sammy

He further mentioned that he remains open to working with other political parties that value his music and would be more than willing to create a song for them as well.
