Ghanaian Hiplife star, Pope Skinny, has shot down rumours he had anything sexual to do with Nana Ama McBrown.

He praised the TV and movie star Nana Ama McBrown as “a great personality” and endlessly “hyper”.

“I went to play a show in Tema. She was present while I did a freestyle, and she cheered me on enthusiastically. We exchanged numbers and that was it. I had nothing to do with her.

“After we exchanged numbers, we never spoke. Nothing amorous or sexual happened between us. We never even met after this occasion.”

Pope Skinny

He noted at the time he met McBrown, she was not married.

The Hiplife star indicated that were it not for the fake news that followed their exchange of numbers, he would have become her suiter because “she was my crush”.

The Hiplife star who doubled as a radio presenter currently lives and works in the United States of America.

“My fame made acquiring a US green card hard and yet easy. Fame has opened some doors for me an ordinary name couldn’t have.”

He said when he went for his green card interview, “God being so good, when they Googled my name, they got some good stuff about me”.

The rapper noted there was a reason people are not satisfied with riches, asserting: “You have to be rich and famous”.

Pope Skinny testified his fame had provided what he eats, wears and what he’s achieved so far. He said he had not completely relocated to the United States.

“Fame is good. Every human must taste it. If it wasn’t for fame, I wouldn’t be here. I have a home in Ghana and another in America. My family is both here and abroad, also.”

Pope Skinny

He categorically stated, also, he was married. “I didn’t go to America by sea or desert. If I can go back and forth so freely, you must know I am married,” Pope Skinny revealed.

Artist Reveals Reason Creatives Move to the West

Pope Skinny spoke on the exodus of Ghanaian artists to the West.

The Hiplife star lamented the creative arts systems in Ghana or the lack thereof make a musician’s life financially unbearable.

“There is nothing in this country to secure the future of musicians. This is why you’ll see creatives who are needy and asking for funds, especially in their old age. It’s not that they are irresponsible.

“Our job doesn’t even come with SNNIT contributions. If you look at all these, you’ll advise yourself, leave and go pay your social security contributions in the West, where the scheme is not corrupt, and they’ll take care of you till you die.”

According to Pope Skinny, an artist will go hungry when they don’t have a hit song.

“Even if you save money, you’ll end up using the savings for paying music videos, and other logistics. Even if you get endorsement deals, how often will they come? Not everyone gets it too.”

Pope Skinny

Pope Skinny, here, strongly opposed the Food & Drugs Authority (FDA) ban on alcohol endorsement by celebrities, recently upheld by the Supreme Court.

“It doesn’t make sense to me,” he exclaimed, noting the immense financial benefits celebrities received in the days before the 2015 ban.

He mentioned some of the top local alcohol beverage brands, testifying of the helpful deals they gave to him and others, and the events they organized or sponsored, keeping the entertainment industry vibrant and productive.

The ‘Hot Cake’ hitmaker emphasized: “Since the leaders don’t really think about our welfare in this country, we’ll leave and go do jobs that may be below us, at least no one will see as doing it.”

Pope Skinny revealed that he drives a big truck in America. “I cannot do it in Ghana because I will be mocked,” he added.
