The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a rallying call to Ghanaians ahead of the December 7th general elections, urging citizens to seize the opportunity to effect transformational change after what it described as eight years of economic mismanagement under President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Bawumia-led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

In a press statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the NDC defined Saturday’s election as a defining moment to “reclaim the soul” of Ghana. The party emphasized the need to rescue the country from what it characterized as “insensitivity, unchecked corruption, and massive state plunder”.

“The cloud of darkness, hopelessness, and retrogression that has enveloped our beloved nation is about to be lifted. Together, through our collective resolve, we can reset Ghana and steer it back onto the path of progress, fairness, and shared prosperity.”

Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, General Secretary, NDC

According to the party, the December 7th election presents a pivotal chance to reset the country’s course toward progress, fairness, and shared prosperity.

“This election is not just a choice between the NPP and NDC—it is a fight to reclaim the soul of our dear nation,” the statement read, adding that the current administration’s failures have plunged the nation into an abyss that only a change in leadership can reverse.

Mahama-Opoku-Agyemang: A Leadership You Can Trust

The NDC reaffirmed its confidence in its presidential candidate, former President John Dramani Mahama, describing him as an experienced, visionary, and honest leader capable of steering Ghana out of its current economic challenges.

“Paired with Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang—a trailblazer in women’s empowerment and a champion for social justice—the NDC presents a leadership team committed to protecting the welfare of the youth, empowering women, and uplifting the less privileged”.

The party assured Ghanaians that its ticket prioritizes the needs of ordinary citizens over personal gain and offers credible solutions to the nation’s challenges.

A Message to Undecided Voters

To undecided voters, the NDC appealed for critical reflection on the stakes of the election. “The choice before you is clear: John Mahama and Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang represent hope, integrity, and a brighter future for all Ghanaians,” the statement read.

The party urged Ghanaians to vote for the Umbrella symbol on the ballot, emphasizing that every vote counts in the quest to restore accountability, fairness, and national development.

Calling for mass voter turnout, the NDC emphasized the importance of mobilizing family, friends, and communities to ensure a decisive victory. “Let your vote be your voice for change, accountability, and a new direction,” the statement urged, promising to prioritize anti-corruption measures and social equity in its administration.

The NDC also assured citizens of its commitment to reversing the “decadence of the past eight years” and rebuilding Ghana for a brighter future. The statement concluded with a prayer for the nation, rallying all Ghanaians to come together for a momentous victory on December 7th.

“Ghana’s future is in our hands. Let us make history on December 7th. May God bless our homeland Ghana and bless us all!”, the statement ended calling for unity and decisive action to shape the destiny of the nation. The choice, it emphasized, rests in the hands of the electorate.
