The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has asked its supporters to withdraw from collation centres, expressing profound appreciation for the vigilance and commitment of its members, agents, and supporters during the just-ended electoral process.

In a press release dated December 10, 2024, the party commended its ranks for their unwavering dedication to safeguarding the integrity of the election process.

Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the party’s General Secretary, emphasized the invaluable role played by NDC members who have been stationed at collation centres across the country. He acknowledged their hard work and vigilance in ensuring that the voting process was fair and transparent.

“At this juncture, we call on all of you, our members who have dutifully stationed yourselves at collation centres across the country to now leave these centres and return home. This is the time to trust the leadership and the technical staff of our great party to fully manage the rest of the process.”

Calls for Calm, Unity and Focus

As the party continues its efforts to ensure that the will of the people is upheld, Hon. Kwetey encouraged all NDC supporters to remain calm, united, and focused on achieving the victory that Ghana deserves.

He reiterated the party’s commitment to ensuring that the election results reflect the true voice of the people while reinforcing the need for unity and collective effort in securing a fair outcome.

This call to withdraw from the collation centres is seen as a signal of the party’s confidence in the integrity of the remaining process and a request for supporters to trust the leadership to handle the final stages.

Hon. Fifi Fiavii Kwetey, the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress emphasized confidence that the party will emerge victorious in the rest of the constituencies with outstanding issues, a victory he said will be in the best interest of the nation.

In another statement, the National Peace Council (NPC) has expressed deep concern over reports of destruction, looting, and violence linked to the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

The NPC condemned the incidents and reaffirmed its commitment to fostering peace and stability across the country. Describing the violence as unacceptable, NPC Chairman Rev. Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi called for calm and urged all stakeholders to work collaboratively to address the issues.

At the national level, the NPC is coordinating with the Electoral Commission, the National Election Security Taskforce led by the Inspector-General of Police, and other key stakeholders to address ongoing incidents.

The Council emphasized the importance of maintaining a secure and peaceful environment as the nation moves forward from the elections.
