In a strongly-worded critique, the Presidential Staffer Nana Yaa Jantuah, has taken a firm stance against the New Patriotic Party (NPP), accusing them of failing Ghanaians while commending the 2025 budget presented by the Mahama’s administration, describing it as humane and people-centered.

Nana Jantuah expressed her shock and disappointment at the previous government’s failure to pay 321 pharmacists, a move she deemed unacceptable. She highlighted pharmacists’ critical role in healthcare, emphasizing their importance in ensuring proper medication for patients.

“The only time it will recur is when we bring back the NPP because they don’t think about Ghanaians.”

She lamented that professionals in such a crucial sector were being sidelined, stressing the indispensable nature of their work.

She further insisted that such a situation would only repeat itself if the NPP returned to power.

Nana Jantuah praised President Mahama’s budget as one of the best in recent history, commending its focus on the welfare of Ghanaians.

“The budget is one of the most beautiful budgets I have seen, very humane and bold. I mean, very human. And you could see that the budget was talking about Ghanaians.”

“And this is what I always said, that Ghanaians have to be looked after. The budget was talking about us—how we will do well, our health, our work, our existence.”

Criticism of NPP’s Alternative Budget

Nana Jantuah dismissed the opposition NPP’s plan to present an alternative budget, questioning their credibility in economic management. “You see the opposition NPP is making noise,’’ she said.

She expressed disbelief that the NPP had the audacity to speak on governance issues, given their track record.

“I am so surprised [with] these people, sometimes you don’t have to talk too much—that they even have the voice and the temerity to speak. The way they have brought this nation back and His Excellency Mahama is gradually putting the blocks together to make this nation work.”

Nana Jantuah criticized the NPP government’s financial mismanagement, pointing to extravagant spending during national celebrations.

“Look at what happened with the [last year’s] sixth March celebration. The [NPP government] spent GHS 15 million on one celebration. They don’t care. for them, it is not about Ghanaians.”

She also referenced the former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s failure to invest in Ghana’s healthcare system despite seeking treatment abroad at the Mayo clinic.

Nana Jantuah further questioned the NPP’s inconsistencies in policy positions, particularly on the betting tax.

“I heard Honorable Amin said that they did not implement the betting tax. Does that even make sense? That you can sit and say that you did not implement the betting tax? something that you didn’t implement—why were you going to scrap it? Is it not a total confusion? You did not implement it, but you are going to scrap it? So, what were you going to scrap? I mean, does it make sense?”

She argued that such contradictions exposed the NPP’s lack of coherence in governance.

Nana Jantuah noted that ordinary Ghanaians had positively received President Mahama’s 2025 budget, urging the NPP to acknowledge its merits.

‘’Ghanainas happy, they just want implementation. And I promise them that His Excellency John Dramani Mahama will implement it. Whatever he says, he will do it. He’s not joking with us. Whatever he says he will do, he will do it because he’s a very humane person, and he loves this country, Ghana.”

Jantuah criticized the NPP’s handling of taxes, particularly the e-levy and COVID levy, arguing that they failed to benefit Ghanaians.

“We have childhood cancers. They didn’t care. Children went to the hospital. They couldn’t pay for chemotherapy. They said that they are paying for renal patients—ask whether they paid. It was only concentrated in Korle-Bu and the public hospital. What about those in the other hospitals?”

She further noted the NPP’s inconsistencies regarding the International Monetary Fund (IMF) program.

“They said that if we go to IMF, we won’t do e-levy. If we do e-levy, no IMF. But We went to IMF, we were still paying e-levy. And they did not even tell us what they are using the money for.”

Mahama Owns His Budget

Jantuah commended President Mahama for taking full ownership of the budget, unlike his predecessor, Nana Akufo-Addo.

“Yesterday at the swearing-in of the Deputy Minister, he [Mahama] said, ‘My budget—it was read on my behalf.’ This is the first time I’m hearing a president saying ‘my budget’—owning the budget.”

“Nana Akuffo Addo was running away from his own budget. He never mentioned anything about his own budget. It was Ken Ofori-Atta budget.’’

Nana Yaa Jantuah Presidential Staffer

Nana Yaa Jantuah’s passionate remarks highlighted her firm belief in President Mahama’s leadership and economic vision. She praised the budget’s focus on the people, criticized the NPP’s governance failures, and dismissed their alternative budget as irrelevant.

In her view, Ghanaians are hopeful for a better future under Mahama’s administration, and she urged the opposition to acknowledge the positive direction of the country’s economic policies.
