Chelsea have officially completed the signing of England U21 international Jamie Bynoe-Gittens from Borussia Dortmund.
This is the club’s third major attacking acquisition of the summer transfer window. The highly rated 20-year-old winger joins the Blues on a long-term seven-year deal that runs until 2032, with the total package reportedly worth £52 million consisting of an initial £48.5 million transfer fee plus a further £3.5 million in performance-related add-ons.
The transfer was finalised in the United States, where both Chelsea and Dortmund are currently participating in the FIFA Club World Cup.
The Blues moved quickly to conclude the deal after weeks of negotiations and successfully managed to overcome late interest from German champions Bayern Munich.
“It feels great. It’s a great feeling to join such a big club as Chelsea. I can’t wait to learn from everyone in the team and to push myself to the max here. It’s an amazing feeling.”
Jamie Bynoe-Gittens
Bynoe-Gittens arrives at Stamford Bridge with a growing reputation as one of England’s most exciting attacking prospects.

Predominantly deployed as a left winger, he is equally capable of operating on the right flank or in a more central attacking midfield role, offering versatility that fits Chelsea’s new-look forward line.
Born in London, Bynoe-Gittens spent his early years in the youth setups of Reading, Chelsea, and Manchester City, before making the bold move to Borussia Dortmund in 2020. He made his professional debut in the Bundesliga in 2022.
Despite battling injuries at various stages, the winger made a notable impact in Dortmund’s first team with his pace, flair, and ability to take on defenders.
His performances caught the attention of several European heavyweights, but it was Chelsea who showed the most concrete intent and ultimately got the deal over the line.
Timing Of The Signing
His arrival comes at a time when Chelsea are undergoing a significant reshuffle at the attacking end of the pitch.

Having already waved goodbye to Jadon Sancho after his loan spell from Manchester United, the club is preparing for further departures in the wide areas.
Christopher Nkunku’s long-term future remains uncertain amid fitness issues, while Noni Madueke is in advanced talks over a potential move to Arsenal.
In case Madueke departs(to Arsenal), Chelsea are expected to turn their attention more seriously toward Ghanaian star Mohammed Kudus, currently at West Ham United. Kudus has long been admired by the Chelsea hierarchy and could offer further depth and dynamism to the attacking unit.
The addition of Bynoe-Gittens aligns with Chelsea’s continued commitment to youth and long-term squad planning.
While expectations will naturally be high given the fee and contract length, Bynoe-Gittens joins a squad full of promising young talents and experienced internationals.

If he can replicate the form he showed in glimpses at Dortmund and stay fit, he could quickly become a fan favourite at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are not expected to be done in the transfer market, with more incomings and outgoings anticipated before the window closes. But for now, the arrival of Jamie Bynoe-Gittens adds another exciting talent to Chelsea’s evolving squad.
