Bawumia Touted As NPP’s Surest 2028 Bet

Bawumia under fire for Akwatia comment

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia

In the evolving political landscape ahead of Election 2028, NPP communicator and member of the Bawumia Campaign Team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has made a compelling case for why Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia should remain the party’s front-runner.

According to Aboagye, Dr. Bawumia represents the fastest path to victory and offers the NPP the most secure chance of reclaiming and retaining power when Ghanaians head to the polls.

Aboagye left no doubt about his stance, describing the former Vice President as “the most prepared, formidable, winnable candidate” within the New Patriotic Party’s ranks.

He backed his position with electoral statistics and strategic reasoning, emphasizing that the upcoming contest demands a figure with both proven popularity and a track record at the highest levels of governance.

“We have only 1,215 days to the next elections. Too short a period to gamble with what we do not know. We know what Dr. Bawumia has, 41.7% and we know how much more we need to cross the 50% + 1.”

He views the numerical advantage as a critical asset the party must safeguard.

Accordingly, Aboagye cautioned that experimenting with untested options so close to a pivotal election would be a dangerous gamble, especially given the limited time available to deliver results.

Aboagye anchored his argument on what he described as a historical truth in Ghana’s democratic experience: political consistency works.

He pointed out that parties that stick with candidates and strategies that have been tried and tested often enjoy better electoral outcomes than those that make last-minute changes.

According to him, this assertion is supported by both facts and data collected over the years.

The NPP communicator insisted that the party’s smartest option is to rely on proven assets rather than taking chances on untested political variables. “We can only rely on what is proven; that’s the best thing to do,” he stressed.

Bawumia Known Across Every Corner

Dennis Aboagye also stressed that Dr. Bawumia’s visibility across the country is unparalleled, making him a unique asset for the NPP.

He pointed out that the former Vice President is “the most marketed, known by face and name in every corner of this country”, a level of recognition that few political figures in Ghana can claim.

According to Aboagye, this widespread familiarity is not merely symbolic—it translates into trust, credibility, and a head start in voter engagement.

In his view, such an advantage could prove decisive in building momentum and securing victory in the upcoming elections, particularly in a race where time and reach will be critical factors.

“Considering our party members’ unanimous resolve to win election 2028 without excuses within a tight timeline, we reduce our risk and increase our chances by going for Dr. Bawumia, who has been at the frontlines of our party on several occasions.”

For Aboagye, this isn’t simply about familiarity—it’s about proven capability.

He described Bawumia as decisive, assertive, and results-driven, calling him a “quiet winner” who possesses intelligence, credibility, and incorruptibility.

The former Vice President, according to Aboagye, shows respect to all, refrains from shouting or issuing threats, avoids blackmail, and does not instill fear in people.

Instead, Bawumia appeals across generational, economic, and social divides, engaging both the young and old, the rich and poor, without condescension toward any party member or citizen.

This character profile, Aboagye argued, is exactly what the NPP needs to present to the electorate—a leader who can unify and inspire trust across the political spectrum.

A Strategic Call For Consistency

Beyond personality traits, Aboagye’s message centered on the importance of strategic consistency.

He advised that maintaining momentum with Bawumia would give the party the best possible chance of surpassing the all-important 50% + 1 threshold required to secure victory in Ghana’s electoral system.

He urged party members to channel their collective energy toward building on the groundwork already laid by Bawumia’s previous campaigns and political engagements. “Let’s remain consistent with Dr. Bawumia and work together to cross the 50+1; he’s our best bet right now,” Aboagye concluded.

His comments add to a growing narrative within sections of the NPP that the former Vice President is not only the party’s most visible face but also its most battle-tested political asset.

With over three years to prepare, Aboagye’s call suggests that the internal conversation about strategy is moving toward consolidation rather than reinvention.

As the countdown to Election 2028 continues, the debate over the NPP’s best path to victory will likely intensify.

However, if Dennis Aboagye’s position gains further traction, the campaign to put Bawumia back at the forefront could become the party’s dominant rallying cry well before the official race begins.
