Speaking for the Ghana Education Service (GES), the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Daniel Fenyi, assured parents, wards, guardians, and the general public of collaborations between the Ghana Education Service and the authorities of all the second-circle institutions that are set to receive first-year students.

Mr. Fenyi noted that officers of the Ghana Education Service have visited some of the schools to ascertain how students are reporting to their various schools and how they are being handled by authorities of the schools.

He stated that a three-day period has been given to students to report to their various schools, with the deadline being Monday, October 20, 2025.

He noted that in the first two days, things have been calm and that students are being integrated into their new environment smoothly.

“I think largely the situation was under control in many of the schools. I think the integration has been quite smooth.”

Mr. Daniel Fenyi, Public Relations Officer, Ghana Education Service

Mr. Fenyi also emphasized school authorities’ assurance that they are available all day to receive students and help them settle into their new environment.

“The school authorities have assured us that even when students report in the night, they will be available to still receive them and then help them through the integration process. It is almost like everybody is on deck. Every hand is on deck, right from the school level to the district level to the regional level.”

Mr. Daniel Fenyi, Public Relations Officer, Ghana Education Service.

He further emphasized that given the vulnerability of the students, it is very necessary to give them maximum support from the right personnel to help them to smoothly integrate into their new environment.

“They need to be supported to go through the integration process. That is what all the officers of the Ghana Education Service are doing to help our learners integrate smoothly into their new school environment.”

Mr. Daniel Fenyi, Public Relations Officer, Ghana Education Service.

The spokesperson of GES also stated that unlike in previous years, they do not expect to have any issues with accommodation, emphasizing that accommodation was a major component of consideration during the placement process.

He emphasized that the Ghana Education Service obtained from the heads of the various schools the available vacancies and facilities and the number of students that each school could admit per the available facilities.

He noted that placements were strictly in line with the numbers provided for each school.

“For this year, we will not have issues of accommodation, and for that matter, generally, boarding school facilities and all that were seriously taken into consideration in the placement exercise.

“And so, I can assure you that we should not expect situations where learners will not have places to sleep or students would have to sleep on the bare floor like we witnessed sometime.”

Restoration of Parent-Teacher Association

Mr. Fenyi stated that the Parent-Teacher Association has been fully restored, emphasizing the need for collaborations between school authorities and parents for the betterment of the students.

“The parents, officially we are reminding them that the Parent-Teacher Association is fully, fully restored. And so, by restoration, full restoration, we mean that you are an integral part of your child’s academic journey.”

Mr. Daniel Fenyi, Public Relations Officer, Ghana Education Service.

He further encouraged parents to make sure they connect with school authorities by way of contact and make themselves available for PTA meetings.

“So do not only come and ‘dump’ your ward on the school premise and go back home. No, come to the campus, collect the contact of some of the teachers, collect the contact of, if possible, some of the seniors on the campus and make sure your child feels that you are part and parcel of their journey they are about to undertake.”

Mr. Daniel Fenyi, Public Relations Officer, Ghana Education Service.

He admonished students to behave well by respecting their teachers and taking their academics and school activities seriously. He also cautioned them against engaging in bad and deviant company and activities, emphasizing that their aim should be how they can do well in their academics.

“Ghana Education Service, as an institution, will give you the assurance that we will provide very conducive environment that will make you succeed. So, support us as children, and support us as parents to work together to ensure our learners turn out successfully.” – He stated.
