Black Sherif continues his unstoppable dominance on Ghana’s music scene as his latest single “Find A Way” surges 19 positions to number 25 on the Apple Music Top Songs chart in the country.

The highlife-infused track, released just days ago and distributed by EMPIRE, reflects the young star’s signature blend of resilience-themed lyrics, vibrant energy, and street storytelling that has defined his rapid rise. Positioned between O’Kenneth’s “ASOƆDEN” at #24 and “YIMAE” at #26, the song sits amid a strong showing for the artist, with other tracks like “Toxic Love City” at #22 and “Rebel Music” at #27 also charting.

At just 24 years old, Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kwaku Frimpong better known as Black Sherif has cemented himself as one of Africa’s most influential voices. Born in Konongo, a mining town in Ghana’s Ashanti Region, on January 9, 2002, he began experimenting with music in high school.

Early uploads on YouTube, including “Cry for Me” in 2019 and “Money” in 2020, laid the groundwork, but it was the 2021 releases “First Sermon” and its sequel “Second Sermon” (later remixed with Burna Boy) that propelled him into the spotlight.

His 2022 breakthrough single “Kwaku the Traveller” made history as the first track by a Ghanaian artist to top both Ghana and Nigeria Apple Music charts simultaneously. The success of his debut album The Villain I Never Was followed, earning critical acclaim and awards including Best New Artist at the Ghana Music Awards.

Sherif’s ability to fuse trap, drill, highlife, and Afrobeats with raw, autobiographical lyrics about struggle, ambition, and street life has resonated deeply with fans across the continent and diaspora.

2025 proved to be a landmark year. His sophomore project Iron Boy delivered an unprecedented sweep, occupying the entire top 11or even top 12 spots on Apple Music Ghana’s year-end chart, with “Sacrifice” leading the pack. This feat made him the first Ghanaian artist to achieve such dominance on a major streaming platform’s national rankings.

He also topped Spotify charts in Ghana and continued expanding his international footprint with features, collaborations, and playlist placements like Apple Music’s Rap Life Africa.

“Find A Way,” a 2:34 anthem celebrating perseverance and a winning mindset, arrives amid this momentum. Early fan reactions have been mixed but passionate. Many hail it as a “World Cup worthy banger” for its uplifting vibe and danceable highlife elements, quickly pushing it to No. 1 trending on Audiomack alongside strong streams on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube.

Others note similarities to his recent hit “SWAGGA” and describe the hook as somewhat repetitive, yet the overall buzz highlights his enduring appeal.

Public Opinion

Industry observers point to Sherif’s authenticity as key to his longevity. Unlike many peers chasing global pop trends, he remains rooted in Ghanaian experiences while innovating within familiar sounds. His label partnership with EMPIRE has enhanced distribution and marketing, allowing quicker chart impact for new releases.

Multiple Black Sherif tracks occupying the upper half of the current Ghana Apple Music chart illustrate not just single success but sustained catalog strength.

The surge of “Find A Way” also highlights broader shifts in Ghana’s music industry. Local artists are increasingly commanding domestic streaming charts, reducing the historical dominance of Nigerian Afrobeats stars in some territories.

Sherif’s dominance in 2025, where Nigerian tracks barely cracked the top 10 in year-end lists, signaled a new era of Ghanaian self-sufficiency in digital consumption.

Fans and critics alike are now watching whether “Find A Way” can climb further into the top 10. Given Sherif’s track record multiple No. 1s, record-breaking album performance, and consistent output-the trajectory looks promising.

Social media is abuzz with calls for radio play, music video drops, and potential live performances that could further amplify the single.

Beyond charts, Sherif’s influence extends to fashion modeling and youth culture. His journey from a small-town kid skipping university aspirations to focus on music (after convincing his parents during a gap year) inspires many young Ghanaians pursuing creative careers.

He has spoken openly about mental health, personal setbacks, and the pressures of fame, adding depth to his public persona.

As Ghana’s music scene thrives with talents like Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, KiDi, and emerging voices, Black Sherif stands tall as its current flagbearer. “Find A Way” is more than another charting single; it represents continuity in an artist’s evolution and the growing global appetite for authentic African stories told through innovative sounds.
